thinking about picking one up when they come back in stock , I have always preferred and own pump action
but have read a articles saying semi autos have come a long ways and are reliable.
just looking for info from owners or folks that have shot them
thanks

I do have a Mossberg 930. Mine is the "Duck Commander Signature" model. I've had it for five years, probably about 1K shells thru it; no issues at all. These are mostly The Wal-mart Federal 12 ga #7.5' or 8's. The one's[930's] that seem to have problems, I believe are the 930 JM Pro's[?] with the extension tube mag and people shoot them relly fast. The field 930's seem to run just fine. Mine does.

I had one for awhile around ten years ago. Came with a field barrel and rifled slug barrel. Sold it during the Sandy Hook firearm shortage because I was offered quite a bit more for it than I paid. I had zero issues during the short time I owned it.

I had a 930 JM PRO that I used back in my 3 gun competition days. It was excellent for that use, and was much more budget-friendly than something like a Benelli or FN. Based on my experience with the PRO model, I bought a "standard" model with the 28" barrel with screw-in chokes that I have used for doves and ducks, as well as the shorter (22"?) barrel with the screw in chokes for turkey hunting, which has done very well so far for that. I did notice that the PRO model needed a good cleaning after a high round count match if I expected it to stay reliable- which is the right thing to do anyway.

I've had a couple over the years as have some friends. Reliability is a mixed bag depending on who you talk to, and the ammo used. One of mine did OK with some loads, not so well with others. The other one never failed to work. That's about the same I hear from others who had one. The operative words here are HAD ONE. Everyone I know who had one no longer has one. They moved on to something else.

Still have mine. I'm not a busy shotgunner, two/three rounds of trap and same for upland birds. So far, so good. If I had it to do over, I'd probably go with a 20ga S/A.

Theyre good budget guns. I only shot a few rounds at the trap range and it felt a lot cheaper than say an m2, m4, or 1301 but it worked just fine for 25 shells and I think I got more than 20. Swing was fine.

I use a 935 for geese and ducks. It’s just the longer action brother to the 930. I’ve never had a problem with mine.

The only 930 I've had experience with was, as you say, a mixed bag. I have not been impressed. There's a reason Mossberg introduced the 940 (apparently with input from Jerry Miculek), and it allegedly has "redesigned" internals to make it run more effectively than the 930 did (less ammo sensitive, I guess). I've not seen or shot one of the 940s yet, but if Jerry thought the 930 needed improvement, who are we to argue?

I have a 930 26" turkey barrel and rifled slug barrel. I love it , shoots light loads and 3" heavy loads no malfunctions . Slug barrel is accurate ( sabots ) , wanted the 930 JM model, but couldn't find one ( when covid started ) gun shop had 930 Slugster model . So got it and ordered 26 " barrel, last one could find on internet. Love the gun , shoots and functions great, can't go wrong with the 930.
