I just bought one and will be picking it up tomorrow. It's a 26 inch barrel with 5+1 capacity. I ordered from Gander Mountain as used in excellent condition (supposedly). Very mixed reviews so I took a chance on getting a good one. Any thoughts, advice to make it run well?

I have a 28" one for duck hunting. It won't cycle light target loads, but it will handle the biggest baddest, hardest kicking loads you can find and the recoil won't leave you wondering what century it is.

That's what I've been reading so far. It seems people love 'em or hate 'em. Not really any in between. I bought it for goose hunting. I'll probably pick up a ported extended choke for it.

They are a reliable workhorse, as long as you don't expect it to do things it wasn't designed to (like cycle light target loads). Hands down the best US built 3.5" autoloader under $1,000.

Picked it up yesterday. Looks brand new, never shot, with the original box, papers, choke tubes and lock. I can't wait to get out and shoot it.

I got REALLY lucky and got mine a few Gander Mtn. They had miss marked it $349.....I just found one for my son in law for $475, LNIB. I think you'll love it for goose huntin!

Awesome! I wish that luck would have gone my way. I'm happy with what I paid though. A considerable savings over buying a new one.

Nice shotgun and I'd wanted one for geese and perhaps duck, well, not really "wanted" so much as I'd been thinkin' about it knowing how my old Winchester gas guns tames the recoil of heavy steel loads in 2 3/4". BUT, I found a Mossberg 535 (3.5" pump) nearly new condition at a pawn shop for $170, so my want is less. Like you, I'd been thinking goose hunting, though I to have an H&R 10 for that. But, at 170 bucks, I couldn't leave that 535 there. Gives me another option, but I need to pattern it. It's going to have to pattern steel Ts REAL good to beat out that 10 gauge for my goose hunting choice, though. I kinda like hunting geese with a single shot, too, brings back my youth when I hunted with an old Iver Johnson 16 gauge single shot an number 2 lead shot. The ten is MUCH more effective, though.

What I really love about Mossbergs is the ergos, especially as I shoot lefty. The 930 and 935 are appealing to me for that reason. I have a 500 and the new to me 535 now.

Got to shoot it the other day on a pheasant hunt. I was shooting 3" Prairie Storm #5 loads. It cycled those flawlessly. I didn't try the 2 3/4" #5 loads but I bet it would have cycled those just fine too. I don't intend to shoot any light loads so I'm pleased. I still prefer my Lanber 2087 for upland game though. I hope I can get an opportunity to hunt geese this season as that's what I really got it for.
