I bought a new Mossberg ATR 308 a couple of weeks ago at Academy Sports. When I got home and tried to chamber a round, I found that it wouldn't chamber. I pulled the bolt out and looked and the ejector had a ring of rust around the base of it. It wouldn't move for nothing.

Now, that sucks. A brand new rifle and it doesn't work. :cuss:

That being said, Mossberg service did me right. Both the salesman and the manager at Academy were adamant that I not return the gun to them if there was a problem. The Mossberg owner's manual and online service webpage both explicitly instructed to ship them the whole gun, but I only sent them the bolt head to save on shipping. I shipped it via USPS January 8.

After a week, I called and was told it should be shipped back to me in a day or two. I got a box today containing a whole new bolt. That's eleven days. They sent me more than they needed to to make it right. Although I was disheartened to find such a problem with my new gun, I guess I could say that I am pleased that the problem was with a Mossberg because they took care of me.

I am glad to hear that. And, don't necessarily blame Mossberg for the rust. In both Walmart and Academy I've seen firearms poorly cared for and with rust from fingerprints on them.

well this could happen with any name brand.....if the guy that makes sure all internal parts are oiled comes to work monday with a hangover........get my drift?
