I've done a little searching. It seems that the Mossberg 500 has the furthest rearward receiver of all shotguns on the market. The stockmaking company ATI has taken advantage of this and offers a Mossberg stock with two adapters to fit the Mossberg, Remington 870, or Winchester 1300. Really handy when you consider that you only have to buy one product and it will 'fit' different brands of shotgun. It really sucks that they don't make an adapter for the Ithaca 37, but that's life, I guess.

So, my question is, can these adapters be used to attach any ole' Mossberg stock to a Remington or Winchester? Does anybody know this?

Also, why doesn't Knoxx sell their Ithaca 37 stock? I know they're tooled for them.

John Masen and Choate both offer Ithaca products. There are basically no other options left now.

Just read your PM, Badger. I thought you meant their conventional stock, not the pistol grip. Sorry. Deleted.

With a Mossberg stock and the ATI adapter, I was able to install the Mossberg stock on my Remington 870. There doesn't appear to be enough meat in either the Winchester or Remington adapters to make either work on the Ithaca but I'll toy with the idea some more. I know that ProMag made a pistol grip stock that fit all of them, including the Ithaca. Maybe I'll petition ATI to do the same.

I did NOT know what you meant until just now, Badger. Installing a Mossberg stock on an 870. I thought you meant to adapt a stock to your Ithaca.

On the 870/Mossberg, doesn't that quite defeat the purpose, though? A Remington stock is the same price as the Mossy one....and you have to buy the second stock to get the adapters....why not simply buy the Remington stock and save yourself some cash?

Not so much to save the cash as it is an academic exercise. I've got Remington stocks that only fit my reminton. I've got Ithaca stocks that only fit my Ithaca. With $100 or mor stocks like the Knox, it'd be nice to have the option to use it on multiple guns. Mostly an academic exercise.

It helps if you read what I write. Most of the time, that's what I mean.
