What is the most accurate autoloader you've fired?

I've heard a thr member say he shoots more accurately with a striker.

I like 1911's as a personal preference, however, I'd love to hear form a few enthusiasts about their choice for an accurate autoloader. Make, model, style..

Thanks in advance!

A Colt National Match made in the 60s. I foolishly sold it during a period I wasn't shooting it for a couple years. Once when sighting in a rifle and getting squirrely results (mini-14, what a surprise!), I pulled the Colt out and fired two shots at the same target at 80 yards(ish?) or so to see if I was just having a bad day. The two shots were less than the diameter of the bullet apart on the target.

Regardless of its mechanical accuracy, I was never able to shoot it as consistently well as a Smith revolver. They seem to almost shoot themselves, with much less weird fliers than when shooting 1911s or other self loaders, or having the really focus hard on shooting carefully. Revolvers were just so easy to shoot so well I never really cared to apply myself to try to get to the same level with an auto, if that's even possible for me. It would take much more work to get to the same point in any event.

My Sig X6 is the most accurate pistol I have now, my most accurate ever was a Pardini .32, neither suitable for carrying though. In production type pistols I think my Witness Elite's are among the most accurate available right out of the box, my S&W 1911SC isn't bad but needed a bit of trigger work to get the most out of it and still not as accurate as the Witness (made by Tanfoglio).

P210, HK P9S, S&W 945.

Most shooters have no idea how mechanically accurate their pistols are, and will report their 4" 7 yard groups as "accurate" because they only shot 6" 7 yard groups with some previous gun.

Most accurate for me would be a Colt Gold Cup from the 1970s followed very closely by a Colt Combat Commander customized by Colt's Custom Shop. In a .22 it would be my Ruger Mk.II with a 5 1/2" bull barrel.

Ruger MK I Target that has been massaged. I can't come close to using the mechanical accuracy anymore. Eldest son will be getting this one for Christmas.

I have several.

First of all, a Colt Woodsman made in 1938. This is the most accurate .22 pistol I've ever seen, and it shoots about everything well.

Next would be a Colt M357 (same as the Python, without the cosmetics.)

My Kimber Custom Classic is impressively accurate, and with its superb trigger is easy to shoot.

Finally, I have a Ruger MKII that I put a 5 1/2" Clark bull barrel on, added target sights and had a trigger job done.

Ask this question on the internet ... receive 1,000 different answers. Totally subjective, especially since most folks on these forums either stick to one or two manufacturers or simply can't afford to buy different maker's models or more expensive guns.

Far as I'm concerned, this question is only answered with years of experience at the range, seeing what's out there, doing a lot of shooting on one's own, and paying attention.

You're just not going to get good answers by asking this question of internet forum posters. Every "enthusiast" will have a different answer as far as his or her choice for an accurate autoloader.

All that said, as far as my experience goes: I've shot a number of different 1911s (from production-grade to custom) that have delivered what I considered phenomenal accuracy.

I've also shot a number of commercial SIG-Sauer, Beretta, Springfield Armory, Kimber but mostly Colt's pistols that have produced stellar accuracy right out of the box.

But ... this topic is pretty subjective, as many shooters' experiences vary widely -- the same as the quality and accuracy of most production semiautos varies.

And generally, for me -- striker-fired pistols have been at the very bottom of the pile.

While the nature of my post is subjective, I think some of us have forgotten something. It's supposed to be subjective. Remember, I said "what's the most accurate autoloader you've fired".

I love to hear everyones experiences.

"what's the most accurate autoloader you've fired".

That’s easy, a 1911. In my case a Springfield Mil-Spec with an Ed brown barrel and a great trigger.

But for me any 1911 is going to shoot better than anything else. Most of my pistol shooting is with Glocks, but every time I shoot a 1911 I’m amazed at how good they shoot. Heavy gun – light trigger.

In terms of results on target, I believe that the most accurate centerfire handgun I've ever fired was a Desert Eagle in .44Mag. Decent trigger, good sights and very steady on target. I rented it from a shooting range because I was curious about them.

The most accurate rimfire autoloader I've ever fired, in terms of results on target, would probably be my old Ruger MkII Govt. Wish I hadn't sold it.

When it comes to more conventional autoloaders, I believe the most accurate centerfire I've had the opportunity to shoot was a CZ-75. During a trip, I met some THR members at a shooting range. One of them brought his CZ-75 and let me shoot it. I still have the target. I ended up buying my own CZ-75 later, but I've never managed to shoot it quite as accurately.

Slow fire target shooting - flip a coin, anything shoots well for me with enough practice and tuning.

Self defense shooting - because I've been shooting them for years I prefer a 1911 government model with a full length slide. In reality, any 9mm would shoot just as well and would probably be easier for a new shooter.

A friend's Colt Gold Cup made in the 1960s or 1970s was the most accurate semi-auto pistol I've ever shot.
