Awhile back I asked about most accurate in general, but now I want to limit the discussion to just pump action shotguns -- which one(s) of these come with a shortish (under 22") fully-rifled barrel, and are considered to be above-average or excellent in the accuracy department?

Thanks very much. If they're all about the same, then it'll just be the 870 for me, which is a fine gun, but if something stands out head and shoulders above the 870 in accuracy, then I want to run with that.

Is the Ithaca Deerslayer clearly superior to the 870? Others?

I can't say that any one brand is more accurate than the other. But I think that certain setups are more accurate than others. If I were to have to hunt deer or hogs exclusively with a shotgun. I'd go with a cantelevered barrel and either an aimpoint, or fixed 2x scope on it. When I went to Illinois a few years ago. One of the hunters in our group had such a setup it was the best printing setup of the group. It happened to be an 870 platform but I think the less points for potential loosness is more important than brand.

I've heard/read that the accuracy of a rifled pump action shotgun can be improved by going with a receiver mounted scope rather than a cantilever mount, and by having a gunsmith pin the barrel to the receiver.

I have not tried this myself, so I can't give a first hand account. The Lightfield website used to have an article on making a shotgun into a dedicated slug gun.
