Most memorable gun at indoor range...

A guy I shot with on Friday nights was a total recoil junkie. Had a DE .50. Had a full-auto Tommy gun. Had something in .454C. The most gawd-awful load I ever fired out of one of his guns, though, was from the Magnum Research BFR in .45-70. Regular Winchester factory loads, probably around 1870s cav-rifle spec, weren't bad. Gordon, however, was disappointed. Hopped on the web, and found the max that a BFR could handle. He produced some loads with the same muzzle energy as my 1863 Springfield rifle-musket with a .58 minie and a double powder charge.

.30 carbine

The AMT Automag III (.30 carbine) creates a pretty impressive fireball and report. 2 inch .357 firing 125 grain WWB ammo was pretty impressive also.

Thompson SMG

Nothing like the sound of a Chicago Typewriter in an enclosed building

Especially in a Chicago garage, on St. Valentine's Day :D

I will....always....remember:
Guys in the next lane firing a Mosin-Nagant carbine. I felt like I had to remember to inhale after every shot, since it felt like the concussion had driven the air outa my lungs. How in the heck did they use those in WW2 house fighting?

I was the first and last person to fire a S&W .500 Mag at a nearby indoor range.

I take my 4" S&W 500 with me to the range every time I go. They have a Deasert Eagle .44 magnum for rent there and sometimes you see it rented it out to people just trying to show off. It really steals their thunder when I put a few 335gr JHP downs range from my 500.

M44

My son and I took our M44s to our indoor range. In the lower light the 4.62x54r threw an impressive fireball and definately made the most noise in the place.

BANG!!!!

<guy two lanes down: "dang thats loud">

The indoor range has a rifle bay and i was
next to the guy with his 338 win mag.It
was by far the loudest thing i've heard
in there.

I worked at a indoor range with a 4000fps limit. We didnt allow shotguns or blackpowder guns.

I ouched off a 338 UM down there and thought the concussion was going to knock the wind out of me.

We also rented the following:
500SW
460SW
454 Casull

I watched a 460wby go in there and three shots had the guy clutching his shoulder. Classic

Full-auto M16 (RO told him to stop)

My black powder revolvers. THAT'S fun! The Glock shooters don't even know what they are, to say nothing of why they make so much smoke and fire. Then again, they have never heard of anything but a Glock, which is why they bought one.

We have an indoor 100 yard rifle range, but that doesn't count for this discussion. We shoot some big guns in there, but it's built for it. They did ban .50BMG's because they're a bit hard on the backstop, but anything short of that is fair game.

.45-70 BFG that some guy in Dallas was shooting. I still want one.
