Evening all am buying a 8x56 scope for my cz 527 varmint . have been told im in for trouble trying to mount this scope to a czs short action as regards bolt clearance with scope . any views please. regards wj.

However, i seem to remember somebody producing an aftermarket/modified bolt handle for CZ's to help the issue, although i cannot remember who. Time to google sir.
You will also run into problems finding extra high rings to clear that bell. I own two 527's (Varmint & Carbine) and although i was only searching for high rings, it was hard enough to find those.

Let me recommend medium rings and get your bolt handle stem recontoured. While the high rings *might* get the clearance job done the ergonomics of the finished product will not be as good as the medium rings will be.
Mike Six recontoured my bolt handle and reblued it, and it clears the relatively large ocular lens of my IOR 7x scope. IIRC the price was very low, the quality of the work is very good, and the whole combo works.
A few shots of what worked for me.
You can see where at the top of the bolt handle shaft where it is sort of scalloped out here.
Sorry for the poor focus, but you can see where it is enough to clear the bell without interference.
Still I wish the handle were a little longer, as sometimes I feel like I'm fumbling to hold on to the ball of the handle as all is quite tight in that location there.

the scope in question is a schmidt & bender much to my relief it is mounted on rifle this morning. the eyepiece diametre of this scope is smaller than the meopta 7x 50 i had on rifle . Used cz kozap30 mm medium mounts plenty of clearance above barrel and between bolt handle and eyepiece. Kind regards wj kerr.

Try a Bushnell 4-12x40mm
Just a suggestion...Why not just put a Bushnell 4-12x40mm on it and leave it alone. I have one mounted on my CZ 527 and have plenty of clearance for the bolt. the scope works good enough to shoot 1 hole groups with a 55 grain Hornady Ballistic Tip and WIN 748 powder @100 yards consistently.
