Mr. & Mrs. Hollywood spent how much?!?

Funny, I'm a few years past watching MTV reality shows so I had no clue who Spencer Pratt was. I googled him and checked out his Wikipedia entry. Good for basic facts but full of misinformation. One thing I did learn about him was that...
He graduated valedictorian of his class at ****** University.
:D

They're two stars of MTV's show, The Hills. Supposedly, they're not really boyfriend and girlfriend in real life, but they pretend to be for the paparazzi. They're hated by a lot of people for being "fake", but what the hell, who cares. Heidi was once quoted as saying, "I'm voting for McCain," then Spencer kind of deflected the remainder of the comments and then MTV issued some sort of statement later, because it could never be seen as a network that employed Republicans.

Yes, Spencer is full of himself. He was on Letterman and Dave made fun of him because he apparently gets $200,000 just to show up at a party. Well, whatever, if people are willing to fork over that much money for you to go to a party, I say, "good for you."

There's been a lot of talk about this on celebrity gossip sites and comments posted say things like, "I hate these two, I hope the shoot themselves," or "I guess they let anyone buy a gun nowdays."

I don't know these two personally and I can't say that I ever watch MTV, but you know what, whose business is it WHAT guns they buy and WHAT they do with them? The fact is, unlike Shia LaBoef, who was given a hunting rifle by Stephen Spielberg and talked about "skeet shooting" in GQ, at least these two went out and bought non-politically correct weapons for DEFENSIVE PURPOSES.

[They're ]for all practical purposes; brain dead.

*sigh* And one wonders why the majority of the Hollywood elite don't support the gun rights of the "little guy..."

Look, I really, REALLY hate reality TV. I probably couldn't be paid to watch their show.

And I really, REALLY hate elitists like Rosie O'Donnell and Dianne Feinstein who carry guns or have bodyguards for their protection, but don't think us "commoners" need to enjoy that same kind of protection.

But so far, this is JUST a story about a couple that plopped down some serious cash on some serious defensive hardware. No more, no less.

For the love of pete, can't people at least hold their venom back until there's a darn good REASON to let it fly???

I'm not saying that they WILL train and practice the way they should (and they should have the time & money to do), and that they DO support the 2A for everyone....

But, well, ya know what they say about assumptions, right?

They should be applauded for exerting their right to purchase firearms in CA.

Why should anyone on this forum think negatively of this?

Because they just blew 10,000 quid on guns, and nobody around here has done that in a sitting, to my knowledge.

Um, well, to my knowledge there are more than a handful of people on here with FA's, which cost twice as much as they spent on their 'Delta Force':)rolleyes:) package.

The difference is they(THR'rs) didn't make it a point to draw attention to themselves.

BTW, I couldn't care less how much they spent on firearms and I couldn't care less about these two people that I don't know...But you brought it up.:)

Wow, it would be amazing if I could care any less.

Yeah. I actually even tried to care less, but I couldn't manage to care enough to care any less...

I honestly doubt that there is anywhere on this green Earth that wastes more resources (and oxygen) than the fine representatives of Hollywood!

Actually, I must admit that I've always been intrigued by the Benelli M4. But, I can't figure out why the telescoping stock they make is: "ONLY AVAILABLE TO LAW ENFORCEMENT".

Granted, I am in LE. But, my department doesn't approve Benelli shotguns. As such, I'd be buying one on my own, for my own use.

Just wondering why they claim that they won't sell you the kit with the telescoping stock? This is a feature that I am seeking on my next home defense shotgun -- my wife is too short to enjoy shooting a regular length shotgun, and a telescoping stock provides a way that we can both comfortably/effectively shoot the same gun.

Not to sound naive, but is there some federal restriction that I am unaware of on semi-auto shotguns with "scary" black features? (I can't say that I've ever looked for an autoloading shotgun in the past, but that's my best guess for this issue... given how the Feds work on these issues)

I'm amazed that we could spend 2 pages on this.
And that I sat and read it all.
Well, I gotta load more 9mm for the steel match this weekend. See y'all later.

The difference is they(THR'rs) didn't make it a point to draw attention to themselves.

Neither did they, they have a media circus following them around, I doubt they could ditch they if they tried.

As for the Benelli stock you cant have it because Benelli does not want you to have it.

But they spent $10K in gunz

Actually, the reason I bothered to post the article at all was because there was so much fuss being made about how much these two dropped on a trip to the gun store.

$10K sounds like a whole lot of money. The average non-gun-buyer thinks that prices are in the mere hundreds, and that for $10K one ought to be able to load up with an arsenal.

I went price-shopping on Gunbroker because it does have overinflated prices. Helps to see just how easy it is to buy 5 guns and blow that $10K. Actually, that was not true, so I had to go ammo shopping to blow the rest of the dough. :neener:

Thanks to everybody who supported these two folks on their decision to buy guns, and to the folks who agreed that lifestyle (or lack thereof) should not be an issue when it comes to gun ownership.

stay safe.

I think it's kinda good that they advertise. Maybe the trend will start towards people becoming more accepting of gun owners.

Spending $10k on guns really isn't all that much.

I could care less about the Hollyweird types. Leeches living off of the rest us, contributing nothing to society.

Did you personally sign their welfare check?

They are performers on a show that people apparently pay to watch and that advertisers pay to support. Sounds like they’re contributing to the economic well being of society to me, even beyond the $10,000 they personally spent enriching the firearms industry.

Let’s stow all the unwarranted hate. It is not helping us.

We complain about the media being anti-gun, yet attack those in the media who choose to buy guns. Some here claim not to care what the Hollywood types do. That is a self-destructive idea.

The vast majority of the public DOES care, and the more celebrities take up our cause, the better. We need to win the PR battle in order to win the public's support.

Never heard of them. I could care less about the Hollyweird types. Leeches living off of the rest us, contributing nothing to society.

I totally agree, the Hollywood image machine has hurt the gun rights issue , their constant useage of them in films/movies , etc.

Personally, I have no use what so ever for TinselTown, they have built their own self perpetuating sustaining livelihood....
