Currently on the MSNBC landing page there's a story stating that the Santa Monica shooter had 1,300 rounds. However, if you take the time to sit through their insufferable advertising to get to the story, the local police chief CLEARLY states that the shooter had a lot of magazines, although most were loaded with only 4 or 5 rounds. However, HAD ALL THE MAGAZINES BEEN LOADED TO CAPACITY, the shooter COULD HAVE HAD up to 1,300 rounds available to him. They don't say whether he had the mags on his person or if they were somewhere else such as his home.

How about a Pulitzer here for accurate reporting and headlines that accurately tell the story?

yea i keep hearing 1300. is this one going to be another Sandy Hook (politically)? I guess theyve moved on to the IRS thing and the telephone records the govt was obtaining. hopefully

I can only imagine how much safer we would have all been if he would have only had 430 rounds on him...

The picture of the duffel bag and its contents show 30 round magazines, an AR15 upper only and a 1860 Remington. Dont hold me to the exact model of the revolver but you get the picture. Odd is the word that come to mind

.

I hope his magazines were only loaded to 7 or 10 rounds, whatever the limit is. Otherwise he'd be breaking the law.
.

Another smoke and mirrors routine to distract the public from the real problems like the IRS scandals, NSA phone and web search monitoring, Eric Holder still in office, 11% unemployment, Obama chatting up with yet another dictator and more.

I don't want to sound like a member of tinfoil hat brigade but all those other issues only makes my stance on citizens being armed and capable of taking care of themselves even stronger.

Wow, that's over 40 fully loaded 30 round magazines.

Or, more than a case of ammo.

He must have been pretty strong

The news is showing an AR upper found in a cardboard box for a muzzleloading rifle; if he had that carrying it around in a duffle bag, a spare upper for his AR, it just makes no sense. 1300 rounds would work out to a minimum of 43 loaded 30 round mags and one 10 round for a total weight (1.06 lbs for a loaded 30 rounder) over 50 pounds.

The early reports I heard though were weasal worded "potential" or "could have" not firmly "did".

1300 rounds. So what? Is it a more dastardly crime if a drunk driver mows someone down while driving a car with a full tank of gas?
If 1300 rounds of ammo makes you a criminal, I'll often be in trouble.

According to my scale 1 round of .223 weighs .42 of an once.
1300 X .42 = 546 ounces.
546 oz. ÷ 16 oz. per lb. = 34.13 lbs. or 34 lbs, 2 ounces.

Just so we know what 1300 rounds is in weight.

Oh, that of course does not include magazines.

The dude had 32 AR mags, 6 boxes of ammo and another 100-something pieces of loose ammo. Is it 1,300 rounds - not exactly but pretty damn close.

According to a video of the chief speaking with reporters she said he only had mags loaded with 4 or 5 rounds not fully loaded but IF THEY HAD ALL BEEN FULL he would have had 1300 rounds of ammo available to him. I saw the video on the MSN landing page this AM.

What was the point with all the ar mags and upper?

I've seen other pictures posted from this incident--none show the rifle's lower receiver. Where's the rest of the rifle? It was there in the security camera footage.

Hard to find lowers right now. Hehehee. Doesnt he know their is an ammo shortage right now also? ;)

Clearly this is a staged event to gain support for restricting black powder single action revolvers. That is the only sense i can make of the odd assortment of stuff. They should never release the names of these idiots. It gives an incentive for a confused individual to try to achieve some fame for an otherwise unnoteworthy existence. If you decide you are going out in a blaze of glory, it should be anonymous.

But I thought California had a 10 round limit, and assault weapons were banned? How is this possible?

I saw an AR-15 in the security footage... California is trying to cover up the fact that in there perfect "Assault Weapon" free wonder land someone got an AR15.

The same media that blows anything dealing with EBRs being used wrongly out of proportion is also covering up that California's gun laws don't work. Sounds like some shady stuff to me.....

Found the interview. Note the chief says "he COULD have fired 1300 rounds if all of the magazines had been fully loaded." So they were not full mags, but I'm guessing this is where the 1300 rounds figure comes from/ If you read many of the reports, they usually state that he "could have fired 1300 rounds" and don't state that he actually HAD 1300 rounds.

But what about the other stuff? She also stated in another interview that the shooter carried an extra upper for an AR. Was that to beat someone over the head with?

History of psychiatric meds regimen...

Middle Eastern background...

Chose a "sitting-duck-victim" (Gun Free) zone to exercise mayhem...

Three repeating occurrences seem to have converged this time, or am I just mis-remembering history?

Magazine capacity might be an irrevalent distraction, IMHO.

Magazine capacity might be an irrevalent distraction, IMHO.

Even though I play these games with my son on occasion. Im starting to lean towards the video game aspect leaving these kids numb.

Newton it was reported that the shooter changed mags before entering any room dropping almost full magazines.

There are images from this shooting showing the same thing... loaded mags laying everywhere.

These are common things that online COD, Battlefield, etc. players do..

Also in the below picture evidence #96 seems odd from the info we have received.
