Multiples of one kind.....

Two 12ga Mossberg 500s here. Almost bought a third, but opted for a Remington 11-87. Still need another Mossy. ;)

Amazingly out of the shotguns I have I only have a few duplicates. Those being two Browning BPS' and two Winchester 59s. The rest are a wide variety of different kinds I wanted to have or ones that were too good of a price to pass up! And yes I am a shotgun addict now for some reason, in a case of pre-wisdom tooth removal jitters (first surgery and all 4 teeth) I went and picked up a Savage Fox Model B. Why? Because it was a good price and I didn't have a SXS yet of course!

Thanks for the responses, folks. Lots of shotgun redundancy here. Let's see how things add up with more folks contributing....

A couple things....

I note the responses are heavy on a few brands and models. 870s of course, but A-5s and Benellis are clustered also.

A few advantages to having more than one shotgun of a certain brand and model....

Commonality of controls. The safety's always in the same spot, for instance.

Commonality of parts. Even though 870s and A-5s rarely break down, having a parts source close by is good.

Confidence in the tool and oneself.

Knowledge of the platform.

Thanks.....

Been out of town for a few days, so I'm late to the party.
In any event, let's see:

Winchester Model 12 - 12ga
Winchester Model 12 - 16ga
Winchester Model 42 - .410 varient of the Model 12
Winchester 1300 Defender - 12ga

I've also got a couple of Benelli's, one in 12ga, the other in 20ga.

After that, there's not any duplication.

Out of the dozen shotguns around here, I've got models from 6 different manufacturers, in 4 different gauges (12, 16, 20 and .410), and a variety of action types (O/U, pump, gas-auto, recoil-auto... even bolt).

Part of me just likes the variety. After shooting a ton of clay targets over the past few months (using a Browning O/U), I finally went out and shot a round of sporting clays with the Model 42 last week. I broke exactly 70%, but had a big grin the entire time. Now that I'm done with winter trap league, I may try my hand at 16 yard .410 trap this week.

I guess I like guns in general and enjoy different designs. I just prefer the Model 12s a bit more. :) Probably because that's what dad shot. 'Course he also shot a POS rusted-out Sears 12ga bolt gun as well, but we won't talk about that. ;)

TR, I can see Steve in the background shaking his head and muttering about your list not having a 28ga listed in it. ;)

No real redundancy here.

Model 12 12 ga.
Model 1300 12 ga.
870 12 ga.
Stoeger 12 ga.
HR .410

I do have 2 M94 one in 30-30 and one in 22M. Also have 2 Kimbers a fullsize and compact.

I wouldn't mind having a couple of the guns I currently own but at this part in my life I want a variety while I can still get it.

Kudu - Believe me, I tried! As detailed in previous posts, when my wife wanted to switch to an O/U, I nudged her toward the 28ga... to no avail.

The sad thing (and don't tell Steve this ;) :) ) is that I don't much want one for myself. For competition, I'm still trying to get things wired with the 12ga -- and my current collection is great for winged meat.
