I have a Mustang that I really love. But I have a problem with the mag release just to easy. Seems you bearley push and mag pops out. not good for pocket carry. Ive changed the spring but didn't help any ideas.
One, buy a stronger spring.
I'm not sure about the size of the Mustang spring, but it's possible it was a standard 1911 spring.
Brownell's carry springs for both so you might contact them for interchangeability info, OR for a stronger replacement specifically for the Mustang.
Second option is to buy a new magazine catch, on the chance yours is defective.
It does happen that a factory catch is slightly under spec and allows the magazine to release too easy.
I'll give you the advise I received from a THR member when I first started here. Order a spring pak from Brownells, find the right spring and cut your own.Start out with about 2-3 extra coils and experiment 'til it feels right to you. At first my P/L Mustang would drop the magazine after the first round was fired. Mine took two extra coils and will not drop a magazine now unless you tell it to. Those extra springs in the pack will get used for all different kinds of projects and will cost just a little more than the factory spring+ shipping.
