What is it you are trying to do? Reduce recoil? Reduce muzzle rise? Reduce flash? (The stock device is really more intended to reduce muzzle flash, and that rifle probably has less recoil than any other .308 lightweight rifle.)

That really isn't a rifle that these devices are intended for. They were designed more for a heavy-barrel distance rifle, to allow you faster follow-up shots and less movement.

im looking to reduce the mussle jump. i would like to stay on target better. thanks

I seen a really nice looking muzzle brake the other day on TV. The ports exited at the top of the brake and were swept back to keep the muzzle down....I can't remember the dang name of it though.

No they weren't. Look at that talon brake. They even mention full-auto fire and it has those "claws" on the front.....that's exactly the type of rifle they were designed for. Look at what guys run on 3gun rifles and you'll see tons of these. The hammerhead one even lists the divisions it's legal in right in the description and the bennie cooley is even more popular in those games.

I run a Miculek brake on my ar that I shoot paper and steel with. I use it because I don't care about the flash and the concussion/noise doesn't both me so why not reduce/practially eliminate muzzle rise for faster follow up shots while practicing?

I don't know they're considered old school these days or not, but the KDF muzzle brake on my FAL has really tamed the recoil. It's about the same diameter as the barrel and is quite inconspicuous. Unfortunately, it isn't conducive to firing prone as the ports span 360 degrees around the brake and kicks back any dirt that may be under it.

That talon brake would have little, if any difference in performance than the device he has on it now. (I didn't feel like itemizing them.)

There would be a noticable difference with any of them. It's tough to tell from the pictures but if you look at a diagram of that brake you'd see that there's quite a difference in design between that and a birdcage.

I would bet there'd be a much more noticable difference with the other brakes shown if I had to pick.
