So sorry to hear about your son. He and your family will be in our prayers.

I cannot adequately express my sincere sorrow for your son's condition. But, keep your head up. As someone else previously stated, these youngsters are pretty darn tough.

I would highly recommend that you contact MD Anderson in Houston, TX, as they are generally perceived as being the preeminent authority on cancer treatment. And I know from experience that they treat everyone involved with remarkable respect.

Hang in there man.

I have a 5 year old Grandson so this tears at my heart strings. My prayers go out to your Grandson and your family.

we lost my 4-year-old cousin to lymphatic cancer when I was about 5. He had the same name I do. I am now a father myself, and I can sympathize, but surely not fully understand, where you are coming from.

Godspeed to you and your son, and may you both be fortified with strength, perseverance, hope, and whatever else it is He thinks you might need to make it through/past the hardships.

God's blessings to your son and family

William,

Like others on this board, I'm praying for Braeden, you and the rest of your family.

I noticed on your web page that you're Christian, so like many, I'm assuming that our prayers won't offend you.

That being said, There are a few scriptures I thought might be a little encouraging.

I'm not anyone special, but have suffered and gone through lifes trials and tribulations as most on this board.

Philippians 4:4-7
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 118:5-6
5 In my anguish I cried to the LORD,
and he answered by setting me free.

6 The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid.

Psalm 55:22
22 Cast your cares on the LORD
and he will sustain you;
he will never let the righteous fall.

Psalm 91
1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."

Hopefully it will help you.

Just a thought

I think what glennv is doing is terrific (check FA's, rifles for sale section of forum).
Not to hijack this thread, But I wonder if maybe there could be some
AR- building clinics opened, where novice builders could meet with more experienced builders who would assist/advise them on their projects. In return the newbies would make a donation for the cause. I personally have no experience in AR-building (or any other FA for that matter), but it seems a fun way to support a good cause. Perhaps other FA related projects could also be included in these clinics.
Just a thought.

UPDATE February 25, 2008.

Braeden and i are going to Peoria tomorrow for his chemo treatment. This week he only has to go once. And in two weeks he gets and evaluation in which they will preform CT, MRI, and bone scans, as well as blood work and such. At which time they will be able to see how well he is doing with the treatment. At the last evaluation the main tumor showed reduction and well as the spot on his lung was gone and there was still signs of it in his bone in his hip. So hopefully this time there will be good news as well. And at the time he gets his evaluation for the following 5 weeks the chemo they will be giving him will be less aggressive so he will feel alot better for a while which i am looking forward to. And i would like to thank everyone that has shown there support to him and me, it really means alot. THANKS!!

Oh and heres a picture of him i took yesterday with his brother.

My prayers are with you and your son. They are also with you TexasBen and your wife. God is all powerful and can work miracles, so keep the faith. I've been thru these battles and know what you are going through.

I've lost 3 brother-in-laws to cancer and my younger brother had surgery last month, so hang tough!

What beautiful children you have. You and your family, especially little Braeden, have my prayers. This seems so unfair, but God seems to have a plan for everything.

Blessed be you all.

Don't lose faith

223 AR,

I just noticed this thread for the first time. Don't lose faith. My 43 year old son Brian, is going through his 4th brain tumor operation tomorrow morning at 9:30. I know how difficult this is, but God knows what's best for us. Your son is a gift from God, and he will heal him. I can feel it. Keep praying, and try not to worry too much. I have been going through this for some time now, and we have no control over what th Lord has in store for us. Our family will be praying for your beautiful child. "God bless him, and your family".

Respectfully, in prayer

SILENT ONE

Just when you think you have troubles in your life, you read about one of our brothers on this site and the medical misfortunes makes you realize you are not in bad shape afterall.

I am very sorry to hear it and I will keep him in my prayers.

223 AR, man.....I don't know how much this will help you, but between the ages of 7 and 10, I had cancer, as well, and endured many rounds of chemotherapy myself. Now, I'm 20, in college, cured, have a girlfriend of 15 months, and am your average Joe. However, it's difficult, I know. I realized, even at my young age, to put my trust in God, because it was really all in his hands anyway. My family and I all prayed, and my folks apparently got many people to pray that I did not know about until just a couple of years ago. I really wish I had some Bible verses to quote so you could read them in times of trouble, but all I can really say is to "Cast all your cares upon the LORD". He will not test you beyond what you can bear. Times were hard once, and now that they're better, when anyone asks me "what's up", I always answer "I can't complain." I earnestly hope that you and he can both say that one day many years from now. Just remember that God really does love you, and to trust in him. Keep the faith, and remember--With God, all things really ARE possible--and my life is proof of that. Keep the faith, and keep your faith.

I too just saw this post for the first time. Give little "Mr. Guts" a hug for me, please.

Seven years ago an oncologist told my sister-in-law that she had small cell lung cancer that had spread to her lymph nodes and it was way past time to do anything about.

He told her she had 9 months to a year and that even the most aggressive treatment, chemo and radiation, would do her no good.

Second opinion time and we thank God we got one. The aggressive therapy worked. Seven years later and no sign of a recurrence. As a matter of fact she went for her bi-yearly testing today.

Plenty of happy endings out there, man. Plenty of 'em.

I just wanted to thank everyone that has shown there support here, it has ment alot. Currently my son is still under going chemo, and the lastest news on the last set of scans and such that they have done are that the tumor in his head has not shrinked as much as they hoped however there is no sign of cancer cells in his bone marrow so that is good news. And right now the chemo schedule he is on for the next few weeks is a little less aggressive as previous so he is feeling better and up and about more and eating more. And the other day we got to go outside and kick around a big ball for the first time in a while, that was nice. And thanks to everyone that has helped out and kicked in a kind word, it really means alot.

Little children in times of extreme crisis and illness often have a stronger grasp of life and what is happening than their parents realize and can often grasp. These words of wisdom from the mouths of innocents will bring tears to the most hardened. Miracles do happen and We all are preying for one for you and your family.

I have a 5 year old GRANDson and can only imagine the horror you and your family are feeling at this time.
May God grant your son the blessing of good health!!!
