I was storing my 870P at my father-in-laws for a couple of months. The wife and I decided to have a house built that would suit us more as we get older so I needed a place to store some of my guns. Too make a long story short I stored my 870 in my father-in-law closet. My wife of 31 years decides to store some curtain rods in the closet so she jams them down along side my shotgun. The receiver on the 870 has long white marks that I can't seem to remove. My wifes responce to my damaged receiver was that the gun was ugly anyway so what is the problem? Anyone know how to remove the white marks left by the curtain rods and is this grounds for divorce? :)

Assuming the marks are paint rubbed off the rods, use lacquer thinner and a solvent-proof toothbrush to scrub the marks off.

Then apply a heavy coat of CLP Breakfree or your favorite lube, allow to stand for few minutes to "soak" in, then wipe off the excess.

I followed your advice, removed most of the marks. Will probably keep wife. :)

Thanks for all the advice.
