My fiancé is very accepting and encouraging of my gun collecting. We were celebrating our 1 year and she looks at me with her sad face. She said "I got you a gift but I feel stupid cause I realized that it was the same as one you already have." I tell her that no matter what it is, it will always mean more no matter what cause she got it for me. Of course I was running a list in my head of what it could be. She then pulled out a box. I open it up to find a brand new camo 15-22. (While I did have one) I was surprised. I have her a big hug and kiss. She was the starting to tell me that she was showing her dad earlier that day and commented that he'd know I'd like it cause I already had one. She was heart broken. I just gave her a big hug and kiss and reassured her it was just fine and that this one has way more meaning to me and I will always keep it. She was also able to score me another hicap mag and a box of 22 ammo from my LGS. I think she's gonna be a keeper for sure.

BTW, I had her some nice jewelry. She loved it!

My wife bought me a Romanian PSL-54C for our first X-mas together (and she was only my GF at the time). That being said, there was no way I was going to let her slip through my fingers. We married a year later....

Thanks guys. Now the question is what to do with the other one I have that is identical. Sell it, keep it, other suggestions?

MaterDei- while not THR in nature, that was taken care of sir. ;-)

Mine got me a M44 MS and later a flintlock pistol then we got married and still are.

The answer to your query is obvious.....make the old one "hers" maybe paint it up for something she may like or not, but take her shooting with you and show her how much you enjoy your new toy. Then take her someplace and do something with her that you know she really enjoys.

See why I am still married?

Hmmm. They make a pink 15/22 don't they? While I wouldn't necessarily be able to dress up the camo one in pink furniture so easily since its a 15/22 and not a regular AR, I can sell the old one and buy her a pink 15/22 to go shooting with me.

Give it to her or trade

Either give it to her(your old one) or better yet, sell it and take her shopping with the money. Let her buy something girly (jewelry, clothes) or let her pick out her own 22 rifle. I take my wife target shooting and she loves shooting a 22.

And you know what they say: the couple that shoots together, stays together...and respects each other more--ok, no one says that- I just made it up. But shooting together can be fun.

Congrats on the engagement from a very happily old married guy (21 yrs married).

Thats what I would do,,sell that one to get the money to buy her a .22 of her own. I would show her all the different types of .22 rifles befor I bought her one, because she might like something different than you.Just a thought.Your a lucky guy for sure!

Amigo, you have on idea how lucky you are. She is a KEEPER!! Cherish the gun she gave you, sell your duplicate, and buy her a gun she will enjoy shooting. ;)
