Trying hard to stop buying new guns and focus all my coins on reloading. But… I went in my local pawnshop and they had a h&r 12 and a 20 gauge. I learned to hunt with a single shot .410 H&R. The barrels will both need bluing. But the Black Friday price of 80 dollars a piece was too much. 16 dollars later they are on the same layaway ticket. This makes my 3rd and 4th single shot in the shot gun department. I had a Steven’s 20 that went to stay with my done which he sold. My .410 was stolen from my truck at a gas station or school I’m not sure which. Yes I’m that old. But there is 12 baikal 12 and an eastern arms in there for now. Soon to have friends.

Never even shot a single. I have a tube fed bolt action shotgun that I adore. Would love a .22 /12g or .410 someday.

My first shotgun was a .410 New England firearms single. The classic crack barrel is light and balanced well when carried one handed. They are shorter in length than pumps so they are easier to carry through the woods. I used to hunt thickets a lot. Cotton fields and wood lines make great rabbit hunting.

Well, that's very interesting!

I used to pick cotton, La Labor, about.. 15? Or so years ago. Ton of rabbits, mi tío abuelo would trap a few to breed, ate a lot of rabbit as a kid.

My former father in law had beagles and we used to bring the kids out and turn the dogs out on the fields. Being posted up far enough apart we knew it was safe. We had an adult per child and a pile of old single shots. Never managed to shoot one of the dogs. It’s really good for getting kids in the woods because they can talk and don’t have to be still. My son would use his Rossi single shot 20 gauge. That thing had a bit of a kick. Those were fun times. I used to carry my ruger single six in an old western holster. I shot a few with that single action revolver too. It had a pretty good barrel length. I will never forget how big his eyes got. Nobody thought I could make a shot that far with a pistol. These were big fat rabbits. Good for frying up.
