My bedside shotgun

I sure wish a good American company, such as Ruger, would bring out a quality made side by side double coach specifically designed for social work.

I know it probably wouldn't be cheap but a bare bones but tough gun with 18.5" barrels, a light mount of some kind, ejectors, and double triggers would be a fine gun.

Do you really think for one minute that I'm going to fumble around in the dark for ear plugs for me and the wife before picking up the gun to investigate a possible intruder? After putting in the ear plugs how do I determine where the sounds are coming from? Maybe yell "who's there and where are you"?
Your kidding right?

STILL haven't fired that shotgun inside a building, have you?

Actually I have on several occasions. It startled my wife pretty bad but didn't seem overly objectionable. Sure wouldn't do it on a regular bases but if I was confronted by an intruder I wouldn't hesitate because it might be noisy. I only own 20ga shotguns so a 12ga would probably be a lot more objectionable. Still, I wouldn't be looking for earplugs in that situation.
If shooting just for the heck of it sure I would use some type of hearing protection and recommend others do the same.

No there isn't much difference between a 12 and a 20 as far as noise levels are concerned. A pair of electronic hearing muffs would be good to have handy

............... I'd wager that those would sell. Kind of a neat concept even though they'd probably get nicknamed a "Joe Biden home defense commemorative model" after his famous comments about a shotgun for home defense. But seriously, I could see a niche market for something like that.

Ruger couldn't get it right both times they tried; the quality was horrendous and the guns failed to sell,

I refer to my coach gun as my 'blasting stuff gun' or 'hide in the walk-in closet gun', depending if I'm outside or inside.

Regarding muffs, mine get knocked crooked if the stock is fairly straight and no scope like a coach gun, in my experience. YMMV.
