Now that I'm CCWing on a regular basis and it's getting colder out, I'm starting to carry my 642 and my G26 in a IWB Tuckable holster. The problem is that the belts I have just are not carrying the load right and the holsters move around an aweful lot.

I currently use a braided belt or a 1 1/4 inch belt that's not to much thicker then the braided belt. I went to the range to practice with the IWB holsters and ran into all kinds of problems. The worst was when I pulled my G26 and the holster came out of the pants with the gun. Hummmm, that will not work.

So what are you guys using for belts when you CCW. I wear my belts with jeans and business casual attire at work. Any help will be appreciated.

Geez, going by the measurements, I need a size 42. Mid life spread is catching up. :uhoh:

Well, I don't know for business atire, but for casual dress the best deal I have found is the "Instructor Belt" from The Wilderness. It's nice and stiff, cheap (around $40 with shipping), and looks casual enough to not be identified as a gun belt (I wear it every day even when I'm not carrying), because it's made of black ballistic nylon. In addition, lest you have doubts about it's ability to carry weight, you can clip a carabiner to the buckle and use the belt as an emergency harness, rated to about 5000 pounds (depending on model). I got the 1-1/2 inch, 5 stitch model in black, and it's really nice.

I have several belts by Lou Alessi, both 1.25" and 1.5". I wear them for every day wear, casual wear, and semi-dress wear even without holsters. Contact him at 716-691-5615. He does take a while but the belts are the finest I have ever seen! For less expensive or quicker option, try The Belt Man (?). Don't have his website but use Yahoo/Google to find him.

Good shooting and be safe.

You need a belt designed for the purpose. I use a Galco gun belt myself, solely becuase it was hanging there in the local gun shop when I was in there. Works perfectly, just as about any other belt designed for the purpose would.

Most holster makers (HBE, Desantis, Sparks, etc) make proper gun belts.

For the 642 I have a Mitch Rosen and for the G26 I'm using a DeSantis. I may be looking to upgrade the G26 holster one of these days.

I just got my belt from the www.thebeltman.net last week. For 60 bucks I got a double layer bull hide 1.5 inch belt. It is a vast improvement over the belt I had. I also had some of the best customer service I have ever experienced.

Get a real gun belt. Don't bother with anything from a department or Wally World type store.

Aker, Tucker, Alessi, Rosen, Sparks, Del Fatti, Rafters S, and the Beltman all make great gunbelts.

The Beltman is probably the best combo of price and value for the money.

That's the same guy that makes Gunnersalley house belts. I have been wearing one in 1.5" for a year without any problems. He makes a 1.25" for $50.00 I think. Excellent belts.

The Wilderness now has a belt in 1.5 inch that has two plastic rings instead of the metal buckle, a larger version of their "frequent flyer". Lighter to wear and doesnt' scream tactical.

+1 on The Beltman. I have a 1.25" belt which has been great. I use it all year round with a Milt Sparks VMII holding a Para LTC. You can't go wrong with his belt and as was said before, great customer service.

I'm glad you asked about belts as I've been thinking about getting a good one. The Beltman sounds like a good deal to me.

I've been looking hard at the Gunner's Ally/beltman belts. I really like the buckle-less belt, thats kind of cool.

although Gail and Goodrich replaced the belt, i can not recommend the G & G gunbelts. they are made with a leather layer on the outside and a plastic (polymer) layer on the inside and the polymer does not hold up if you are one who cinches the belt tight.

i have bought a bianchi belt and it has been really nice to use. I bought mine in the clearance bin at sportsman warehouse.

I have both Milt Sparks and a Gunner's Alley belts. I prefer the look and feel of the MS, but the price of the GA is just right, and it also works just great. Not to mention, GA has a much shorter wait time.

Dont get an off the Rack Belt anywhere........it might last 2 months or maybe more but youll get another soon.

As a maker of real gun belts........Ill recommend the belt man, I cant touch his prices and the quality is the same as most other high end gun belts.
Hows that for an endorcement???????? :D

Shoot well.

In my opinion based upon years of carrying pistols concealed and openly, a stiff heavy belt is the single most important accessory to carrying a pistol. I contend that it is even more important than the type of holster (if any) that you carry.

I thought Marko Kloos expressed it succinctly in the thread "What's Your Best CCW Tip?":
Buy a good quality belt. Get a real gun belt, made expressly for the support of a handgun and its holster. Get a high quality holster to match that belt. Your carry comfort and concealment success will increase dramatically if you use good leather and a stiff gun belt.

Get the widest belt that you can fit in your belt loops, made of the thickest, stiffest leather you can find. Ditch the woven leather; it's just not suited to give the support needed while carrying. Understand that a stiff belt that you can barely buckle will loosen up over time, and will stretch and get a bit thinner.

Thanks everyone for your advise. After doing a little more research I decided to go with The Beltman. I just placed an order today for a brown and black 1 1/2" belts.

Hummmmm, when you actually measure your belt, you end up with a bigger waist then you thought. 42 :what: Damn, that mid life spread is out of control. Maybe I should dust off the Norditrack. :uhoh:
