My black friday buy

Actually i got it today but it wasnt from any kind of black friday deal. It was in the bargin cave at cabelas for $225. i couldnt pass it up.

I was either going to get an 1860 or this one, they didnt have the 1860 they had up there last time i was in there so i got this one insted.

Decided to try this Black MZ stuff a bit pricy at $31. a pound but i really wanted to try it and i figure if it gets like last year they wont have any till next summer.

Im gonna clean it up and reoil everything then take it up and shoot it tomorrow. Then slug it, bore the chambers and try it again after that see how much proves. So far that has helped my others.

I think that it was fortunate for you that they didn't have the 1860. The '58 is a much stronger gun and, I think, better looking.

Good price.
I have a target model as well. Wth rear sight all the way down it shot 12" high at 25 yards. 20 grain Goex +20 grain filler & 454 LRB I cast.
I then cut down the rear sight blade as far as I could go. Maybe 1/16". Now shoots 8" high.
I need a higher front sight. About 1/8" & file down if needed. I checked at VTI, no luck.
I still won my clubs muzzleloader match with it shooting high. Target model has potential.
I need to try 15 grains of Goex next as I'm only killing paper.

tpelle, Cabella's has caps #10 & #11 you can buy online. CCI and Remington last time I looked and ordered (about a week or 10 days ago). You got to pay the hazmet fee but they are available. I am hoping that means that all of us should be finding them locally in the next few weeks.

They had an 1860 but it had these gold swords on the side of the frame and cylinder and it was like $100. more.

They had one last week i went up there for $160. .44 round barrel if it was $160 i would of got it and just scrapped off the swords or something but it was like $350.

They had about 5 cheaper remingtons for $145. the target and a walker

I didnt want to spend more then $300.

I got it from the store in kansas in the "Bargin cave"

They cant have firearms in the bargin cave but they can have black powder. last week when i first seen em in there they had like 15 or more. I kept quiet about em till i made sure i got one.

The remingtons they have for $145. are the ones online for $229.
