to the gun show in Manchester NH. :D She is 15. She got her permit Tuesday and this what I wanted for my Birthday present from her. My Birthday was Monday. So, everyone who was planning on going to the show today, stay home the roads are not safe. We are going to start the day with breakfast out, probably at Denny's. If she lives up to her end of the bargain, by not whining at all, we will probably finish up the day with a quick trip to Kittery Trading Post, then dinner out. In case you are wondering she has been shooting Cowboy Action matches with me since she was nine and though she is not really "in to" guns I think we will both enjoy ourselves. I think she is just glad that I promissed not to wear my Cowboy clothes to the show.:D I have been known to do that. It is a great way to get ordinary people interested in Cowboy Action shooting.

Where are you starting from? I need to use I-95 and route 16 for about an hour and a half this morning.

Could you put one of those tall, orange flags on your bumber as a warning?:neener:

She's 15. It's her job to be expensive and drive you crazy until she's fit to live with again. By that point she will be living with someone else :p Of course, it's your job as parents to embarass and humiliate her with your wierd clueless dorkiness :neener:

Kittery Trading Post the happiest place on earth.....or umm Maine.

Love the Post you can pitch a tent boil a meal and look at all their guns
while staying on the same floor.

tellner was saying
>She's 15. It's her job to be expensive and drive
> you crazy until she's fit to live with again.

I have a rabbit fur trooper hat I've always used for this. The oldest kid is 27 now, but if she complains, I just say, "I got the hat before I got you."

Hey, you and I might have been at the Kittery Trading Post at the same time today.

That is, if your daughter got you there alive! :neener:

I was not impressed with some of the prices at KTP. $675 for a Sig SP 2022? $380 for a 70% Winchester 94? :scrutiny:

She cant have a permit at 15. NH doesnt issue permits.

Umm...did I miss something? I don't think he said that he lives in NH, just that he was going to a gun show there...:neener:

She just got it tuesday, so is this going to be her first time driving? And it's this long, interstate trip? And this was a request as a birthday present to you? And I thought I knew crazy! :p I hope you survive for many more birthdays to come.

Hahahahaha!!!!! There are so many cool things to learn about being a parent.

you do not have to be a parent

As an uncle I found it can be really fun to be a dorky adult if the teen niece
wasn't being nice

RESTAURANT CARRY RELATED. (Not really, but justifies this off-topic post.)

Two sons.

Something-thirty.

Long time technique for getting waiter's attention when ignored in a restarant: drop hat (fork, knapkin, whatever) on floor. Works every time.

Did it at dinner with them once. Hat.

Never heard the end of that.

Contributed about 90 points to my dork score in their minds.

But it works.

Every time.

I can't wait for them to become dorks.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Permits/NH Trip

I hope the gun show was great. I enjoyed my time in NH this past December. Too bad it went by too fast. :( Oh well, I'll be back. :)

LkWinnipesaukee: I obtained my learning permit in my state at 15 years of age, but that was years ago. I'm not sure how it works now. A "graduated" driver's license system was implemented shortly after I acquired my unrestricted license.

What state issues a permit at 15?
I believe most states will issue a learners' permit (can only drive with a parent or someone over 21) at 15+. In Texas you either had to do it at the DPS with a parent or they'd take care of it after your second drivers' ed class.

OT Joke

A pirate walks into a bar with eyepatch, cutlass, parrot and a ship's wheel attached to the front of his trousers.

The bartender asks "What's that for?"

"Arrr, it's driving me nuts" :p

Wow Happy Birthday! What a small world, my birthday was Tuesday. So far I have bought myself three birthdays toys (Sig P220, Texas Hold'em S&W 36 and Taurus 4410). Have fun with your daughter.

What state issues a permit at 15?

in Florida, you can get your learners permit the day you turn 15. it requires you to drive in the vehicle with someone 21+ with a valid drivers license. then you wait for a year and a day and you can get your license

We wouldn't have done it

if it weren't legal LakeWin. I live in central Maine and, as I said, she got her permit Tuesday. What I did not bother to mention is that we switched at the NH Border. She made a few mistakes, but no one died. She actually did quite well, I was very proud of her. :) I am glad that she couldn't drive in NH just yet because, as some of you know, Manchester can be a bit confusing. Parking my F-250 super duty crew cab (the fortress on wheels) in a parking garage is a challenge for me, let alone a new driver.:what:

As for the gun show itself , I have to say that I was a little disappointed. Most times I walk away from that show wishing that I had brought more money. I'm generally torn on what to buy. This time, I did what I normally do. I go around once taking note of the little stuff that I might like to get. I hang onto my money in case I see a big purchase that I can't live without. After the first circuit, we took time out to sit down to lunch. My daughter was now thoroughly bored and I couldn't blame her. She never complained.:) After lunch I started round two and she sat with a dealer friend of ours. She was happy to sit and listen to her I-pod while I went around trying to remember where I had seen the little stuff. We ran into a few friends and that was, as always, half of the fun. I ended up buying powder primers and and some ammo.

We started home a little before four o'clock stopping, of course, at the Kittery trading post. Again we ran into some friends and I saw things I might go back for later. While at the show and the trading post I did get Christina to handle a few of the smaller pistols like the Seecamp 32 and the NAA 32 and 380. She seemed to like the Seecamp but thought it was on the small side. I, however, fell in love with both the Seecamp and the NAA 32 because I could carry either in my front pants pocket easily.:D I'm thinking that I might buy one of these for when I go somwhere that I can't carry my Glock. She can shoot it when we go to the range. My daughter is already an experienced shooter. I will give it to her when she turns 18 and gets her carry permit. Yes, she can get her carry permit at 18 in the State O' Maine although, ironically, she can not buy a gun or ammo for it until she is 21.

After that we went across the street to the Weathervane restaraunt where we split a HUGE appetizer plate and a combo plate of haddock and clam strips. Since she was driving, I even had a beer, only one. Things did get a little exciting when she tried to pass a vehicle and then move back into the right lane. She pulled out to pass and thought she was clear to move back in when it wasn't. My trucks blind spots run about the the length of my vehicle. If that was you, my daughter wants you to knowthat she is very, very, very, very, sorry. At the end of the day, actually I think it was at dinner, my daughter told me that she had a great day and, because of that I did too.:D

Ha!

Ha got you all beat you can get your permit in North Dakota at age 14. Multiple choice written test is all you need.
