Hello,
For those of you who don't read the Greybeard Outdoors forums, I thought I would show you what my Brother (a gunsmith) and myself created for my 44 mag. What I was looking for was a big bore handgun for hunting. We heard that no one made a muzzle brake for a Dan Wesson. My brother decided to take up the challenge with my 8" barrel. What we did was to take a rifle muzzle brake, neck it down slightly, rethread the barrel (could not match the threads) and match it all together.
I have only fired about 25 rounds so far, but it helps alot and I think it looks awesome. The recoil with full factory rounds feels like a heavy 38 or regular 357. I added Hogue grips, a weigland scope mount and a Bushnell Holosight to complete the gun. Let me know what you think. Maybe someday, DW will make an add-on for other guns. I don't think given the debirs that could fly, I would want to use it on a shorter barrel though.
I also think that it helped me with my accuracy. I was having trouble grouping shots at 25 Yards with the 6" barrel and iron sights. Now 1 of 3 things could be the reason. 1)The brake. 2)The red dot. or 3) The extra length of the Barrel. Whatever the reason, I am very happy with the results.
