I've applied for my C&R FFL and am patiently waiting for it to arrive.
While waiting I've had some time to think about the whole C&R FFL thing and I've decided that I'd like to see the C&R FFL done away with and instead replaced with a C&S FFL. C&S would be a Collector's and Sportsman's FFL.
This FFL would essentialy be the exact same thing as the C&R in that you cannot use it to engage in the business of selling firearms, only there would be no restrictions on what guns you can buy (other then NFA of course) ... with a C&S you could buy any gun you could buy in a gun shop.
I fail to see why one can buy a 50 year old 1911 with a C&R FFL, but can't buy a brand new Kimber! If I decide to do something illegal with it its not like the C&R 1911 is going to be any less deadly.
I understand that the BATF sees itself as "gun control through buraucracy" and we'll never see this kind of FFL, but it would be nice.
