So, on Saturday, I was at the shooting club that I belong to, and I met the man who runs the cowboy hunter small bore rifle competition. We talked a bit and he invited me to come watch the meet on Sunday. I didnt think I was going to compete that day, so I showed up late to watch and see how the matches are done.

Well, I was invited into the match where I scored a 32 out of 60. I know, I know this is terrible :) But! In fairness, I was shooting someone else's rifle and I have really never practiced shooting a rifle without a rest. So it was all a new learning experience for me.

That said I loved it. I'll be taking part in all the matches from here on out. :)

Dont you live near H-Town???

Can you be more specific as to the type of competiton?
No sir, I live far closer to Atown :)

The event took place at the Austin Rifle Club in Manor

The match I'm talking about was a silhouette match where you had 4 sets of 15 half scale targets to shoot at. The match is limited to .22 tube fed guns. Most guys shoot some kind of lever gun. I'm going to opt for a marlin model 60. Anyhow you shoot the chickens at 40, pigs at 50, turkeys at 75, and rams at 100. No scopes allowed, only irons or peeps. The number you hit is your score, highest score wins. Cant shoot from a rest either. Has to be standing up.

Tons of fun!

That sounds like NRA small bore silhouette. I have been wanting to shoot the large bore version of this for years but cant find anywhere around Houston to do it. There is a rifle club in New Braunfels that I thought about visiting that has monthly matches.

Sounds like you had fun.
