I kept reading about the Smith 69 Combat Magnum and how everyone that has one on here really likes theirs. I’ve wanted one since they were released and finally scored a used 4.25” 6D985FE6-64E8-425B-86D5-636A0ECBA0F5.jpeg one for $675. It was the shop owners personal revolver and says it was unfired as he has plenty of 44 magnums. Up to this point I’ve only owned Rugers, an LCR, Security Six, two GP100’s and a Super Redhawk in 44 mag. The SRH gets used for deer hunting with full strength loads, this 69 will mostly see mid strength and will be mostly for fun. I have a SWC load over titegroup that’s does about 900 FPS out of the SRH that should be perfect. I must say the trigger is pretty good, it’s a different pull than my Rugers. It seems smoother, can’t feel when the cylinder locks into place as easily when pulling the trigger slowly. Still love my Rugers but now I know what people are talking about when comparing the two!

I've been kicking around the idea of getting a model 69. Would be a great home defense/ truck gun with Skeeter loads, but with all the goings on in the world getting into a new cartridge probably isn't the best idea for me.
I'll just hold out for a 6" 586 classic first.

Nice! If I had an M69, this would be my approach. I'd leave the full power loads for the SRH.

Just wait until you've fired/dry-fired it hundreds of times...it just gets butter better.

Just took it out back quick to try it out. Ran a cylinder of my hunting load through it, because you know you have to see what it’s like of course. Wasn’t painful but you sure knew you lit something off! Was pretty fun actually. My lighter loads were fun too, a nice pleasant thump compared to 38 special and more enjoyable than 357 magnum. I’m going to tweek my lighter load for it since accuracy was good but not great, and I doubt I’ll send any more light ones through my SRH. Overall very happy!

Not a bad deal at all!

I, too thought about getting a Model 69, but I fear it’ll overlap the 629 Mountain Gun I have too much to make the M-69 not worth the expense for me.

Stay safe.
