It was a blast -- folks were very helpful and gave lots of advice. In the end, I did decently... could've done a lot better, but hey... No DQ, and I didn't shoot anyone, so it's all good. :)

I posted a few videos up on my blog and would love any feedback...

Congrads on your first match...... I commend you on helping with setup - this is a great to meet some great people.....

Vid1 - Nice turn and draw (Try to snap your head and your body will follow) you need to see what you are going to shoot. Looks like you have some extra movement with your support arm. Splits on targets do not appear rushed - awsome

Vid2 - Practice with the holster will help smooth your draw.... Watch your support hand on your draw -you bring it high on your chest only to bring it back down to the weapon Move your hands together. Again - good cadence on the targets - only shoot as fast as you can see the sights....

Vid3 - On the draw your hand is on the gun in the holster and your support hand is on your chest then to the weapon. Try to move your hands together You also take a step to the left - could you have started with your left foot in the postion so you can shoot once the gun is out. You are also re-gripping your gun between targets - Support hand is regripping. Once you start shooting the center 2 targets -your upper body is straight your wieght should be forward. ***Try to reduce the number of shooting postions.

Vid4 - The other guy - He draws and takes one step he is in the first position and is ready to shoot - takes one target on the move to the other postion. So he does 2 standing postions -

***** Find another match and have fun - you have good gun handling and it appears you may have had some training

Vid1 - Nice turn and draw

Thanks! That's my 'about face' I've done in drum & bugle corps for countless years. ;p When I draw, I've made a habit of making a fist of my support hand and putting it over my heart just so there's no chance of sweeping it anywhere.

I see where you're going here -- got you. I'll definitely work on that. That was pretty much the only time I fumbled with the holster... my finger missed the release button. Meh.

Could not have started in that position -- the course of fire had our heels against two black marks on the back of the wooden box frame.

I notice I do regrip and I'm worried about that. I was told at the match that I'm not squeezing enough with the support hand and, in conjunction with the trigger pull, my shots sometimes will miss to the left on long distance stuff. I definitely have to focus on not changing my grip.

Thanks for the feedback -- I had picked some of this up, now I just need to figure out the best ways to correct it. Appreciate it!

FWIW - I take my hand to my belly for the same reason, I also do it when I re-holster. I try to move only as much as needed.
I also try to have both hands meet in the center of my chest and push the gun - looking for the front sight as I push out.

The Re-gripping - Check out the grip he shows breaking the wrist over on your support hand and having most of your grip "Pressure" in your support hand. Notice the grip of the guys in the setup squad - I would bet they all have the same grip....

Welcome to USPSA :)

Great job

I had a small match today. There were some great shooters there, especiallly some of the newbies. One "flyer in the final event cost me first place. Sux but anyway there are a few pics of my results in my thread titled "Pictures of today`s open match. You got any? Post them here." Check`m out if you`d like.

Sorry about this double post. My system locked up and I hit the submit button again. Sorry
