Well I posted questions on here regarding aoudad hunting I received great info that served me very well. So now I'm just here to show my success. The hunt was hard and the game didn't cooperate at all. Because of this the outfitter invited us back at a very discounted price. We know he has the game on his land because we saw game cam pics and across the canyons we spotted some good rams but like I said they just didn't cooperate... This being said I was able to put a spot and stalk hunt together to kill my first aoudad.

Yes the meat is very good! It is lean and needs tenderized. I also made some eat sticks and breakfast sausage both are very good.

Not my favorite game animal to eat, they're part goat. Ground into something would be fine. I'll take wild hog any day over Barbary Sheep.

Is it against the rules to post the outfitter's info? If not, I'd be happy to see it AND a synopsis of your hunt.

Glad you scored.

I don't know if it's against the rules or not... If it is I apologize in advance lol. I went to Leakey Texas and hunted with Rhino outdoor adventure. Kyle hawk from khawk outdoors was the one who found the hunt for me. The price was right and rhinos has the game. When we were there the barometric pressure jumped due to a incoming storm and the game didn't move as much as a Hunter would like. It's because of this that we received an invitation back at a discounted price. I spotted my ram 400 yards away and while I'm comfortable shooting that distance the wind was very sporadic. So I hiked around the ridge and got 125 yards from them he isn't as big as I was hoping for and his chaps are pretty short but it was the last evening and the dirt time we had a ram in range. I shot him with my custom built 280. Rem the bullet passed through both shoulders and both lungs before exciting he dropped in his tracks. I had been told how tough these animals are to track and how hard they are to drop. Needless to say I impressed the guys in camp that day.

Congratulations on sticking with it and succeeding. I looked up some trophy pics, and he looks pretty nice to me! Horns not quite as long but looked real fat at the base compared to some. I'd be plenty proud of that.

MCgunner tell them John from Nebraska sent you.... He is a pretty good ram but they have some huge rams out there. I'm tickled with him tho.Patocazador I used the 165 gr. Remington core loct sounds like over kill I know but they insisted I use 150 or bigger
