Got a question for the group here, I took my new Springfield G.I. model to the range today, and was dissapointed in its lack of accuracy. The groups looked more like shotgun patterns. Even when sandbagging and trying my hardest at 15yds it shot more than 6" patterns. I used Win white box, Magtech ball, and a 200gr. handload that works well in my other 1911s.
The clearances are excessive in my opinion. I wonder if I'm wasting my time bothering with a tighter bushing, because the barrel is riding the link and the hood is undersized.
The dimensions on this slide are:
Slide I.D. is .701
Bushing O.D. is .697
Bushing I.D. is .584
barrel O.D. is .5785
There is .014 fore and aft movement in the barrel hood fit, way too much right?
