I just wanted to share my joy in finally having some free time over the holidays, and the ambition to tackle some reloading chores. I load and shoot a lot of pistol stuff, but my rifle reloading gets put on the backshelf sometimes. Well, in the last 10 days, I have loaded 260 .30-30's (170+150gr), about 250 7.62x39 soft points, 80 .44 Mags, 280 .44 Specials, and 200 .38 Supers. I prepped 250 .300 Win Mag brass for match level loading, but kind of burned out. Couldn't take any more. Do any of the rest of you have to get up and walk away? It starts to be a mental drain, and very tedious and sometimes hard on the back. I liken it to doing lots of dishes at the sink. That grates on me physically, too. To those of you that can stay glued to the reloading bench, my hat goes off to you. My reloading was spread over about 5-6 days, 2-4 hours eaxh day.

I was off the last 11 days and reloaded quite a bit, for me. Probably did 300 total, 9mm, 10mm, and .44 mags. I shot most of it already, but still have a good supply. I use a single stage press and weigh every charge so it takes time, but it's a labor of love. When I feel tired or bored I quit lest I make an error. A few days ago I ran across a couple of berdam primed 9mm's that I picked up at the range. When I couldn't decap them, I decided to take a break.....

I load my .223 rounds in stages, I'll take an hour, prep 50 cases, then take a break for an hour. I'll come back later, charge and seat bullets, which takes another 45 minutes. I do this on weekends, so I can get 100 rounds/week loaded without too much trouble.

I've got so many 40 S&W rounds loaded, I'm buried in'em, lol. With the crappy/cold weather we're having right now, I can't get out to shoot. I'm still churnin' out rifle rounds, but I'm done with pistol for awhile.

The snow keeps fallin ,soooooooooo I keep loading.1k 40cal in the last week, now 223 is on my list.

I got back into reloading for a rifle in the last few weeks. After 15 years or so, I had forgotten how tedious and time consuming it was to lube, size, delube, trim chamfer brass was. Since these were military brass I also had to de-crimp the primer pockets, but not too bad with a Dillon Super Swage 600. It beats any other method I have tried, at least I only have to do that once. I did a lot of reloading over the holidays.

My Christmas presents included a Lee Classic Cast single stage press, plus the conversion bushing that allows me to use Hornady LnL bushings in it.

No ammo made yet--just setting things up. And working w/ the RCBS lube die along w/ the RCBS X-Die (.223). Works well.

I lubed and resized about 850 .223 cases in a couple hours--it's actually pretty cool.

I've got to finish trimming the cases and chamfering and deburring them, then I'll load 'em.

I'm in Albuquerque visiting right now so I haven't done anything.

I did however score alot of Green New Mexico Chili.

I loaded a few .223's and went p-dog hunting. Yep, window down with heater on! Fun it was. Helping to feed the hawks

TRUE STORY- a rancher once approached me while I was shooting Prairie Dogs (on BLM land) and tried to convince me that, because they were carnivorous, killing them was only feeding them, and then there would more of them!!! I respected the fact that he didn't want me there shooting dogs, didn't bother pointing out the failed logic, and went to another 'village' to shoot....

Some people! Funny though

Well, part of my reloading spree was a reloading shopping spree.

For Christmas I got the 9mm die set and 500 count Missouri Bullet SmallBall 125 grain bullets I wanted. I also received $100 cash (which all went towards reloading components).

I picked up a can of Reloder 25, H4350, 100 Winchester small pistol primers, 100 CCI small pistol primers, a box of 160 grain 7mm Nosler Partitions and a 50 round 9mm ammo storage box.

I then proceeded to reload 90 rounds of 9x19 (6 batches of 15 rounds each) and 25 rounds of 6.5x55 SE. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough range officers around to man the range where I'm a member so I didn't get to go shooting. That was the big disappointment of my holiday!

But it was still a great break!

Wow, that is a bummer azar.

I've put about $250 into my first reloading setup, and going to drop another $170 on a Thumbler Model B highspeed once the wallet bounces back a bit. Got to buy a scale...and I'm seriously eying the RCBS 1500. :D

This was the extent of my handloading over the holidays:

6 rounds of .444 & 6 rounds of .45-70. My wife and I had twin sons in October, and since then I have been to 1 IDPA match and I made it out for the last two days of deer season (with the above 12 rounds); but no joy in mudville, I brought all 12 rounds home too.

275 10mm,/ 540 45acp,/ 300 44mag,/ 260 .380acp/ 850 12ga/ 250 45lc. All on my "blue machines"!

200 rds of 10mm last week. Need to get 2,000 .38 special and at least that many .40 done before spring.
