I have been working on this for while and just got her finished today.
I sent her to Shuffs Parkerizing http://www.shuffsparkerizing.com/ for a repark and twisted on a SA 1952 NOS USGI Barrel. MVC-011F-1.jpg
He also did a trigger job, and lapped the bolt.
I also got a Boyds Fancy Grade stock. This stock was a lot better size wise than the first one. I just removed alittle wood at the ferrule and smoothed everything up.The rear handgaurd was way over size for some reason and I ended up cracking it trying to thin it to correct shape.
I was lucky and found a guy that had 3 sets on Wenigs fancy grade handguards at a very good price.
So it’s a Boyds stock with Wenigs handguards, a real mutt to match the rest of the parts :)
Started with 80 grit to shape to size then 100. 150 ,200, 250, 400
I use two coats of Watco Danish Oil in medium walnut followed by two coats of Johnson Paste wax

Agreed. That carpet is very nice. Rifle is pretty good too.

Seriously, though, how did you get the Wenigs handguard to match to stock Boys so closely - did they both same wood? Very nice job.

I cant remember what the Wenigs wood is but its not Walnut. I just got darn lucky with the match. The Wenigs graining is alittle wilder than the stock but it works
