So tell me what you think. This is my "man purse." Its a daily carry, somewhat of a bug out bag, but its mostly a shoulder carried pack.

Here is the latest list of contents in my manpurse, with a few bad pictures:

Note: I may have missed a few items, and this is not a "bug out bag" but more of an "everyday and emergency bag." So, there are items in here I have for convenience as well as survival. Also, there are items I have on my "need to add list" such as mini cyalume light sticks, a couple krill lights, a glo-tube, some cash, a calling card, spare socks, under armor t-shirt...

Also there are daily items I carry in my pockets, including a pocketpc phone with bluetooth GPS, Strider AR knife, Hideaway Knife around the neck, badge & ID, glock 27 on ankle, and HK USPc on waist. (these are of course my off duty items).

Wow... and I thought I carried too much stuff...

Thank you sir, for showing my wife that there are others out there far worse than I .....

Still, better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it, right?

I carry one of those multi-pocketed 'Doctor bags' you see at all the gun shows, keep the usual stuff in it, multitool, extra mags, hankerchief, pliers, some first aid stuff and the like....

But I don't hold a candle to that... I bow sir, to your absolute preparedness to meet any situation....:D

Don't forget...

Mrs. 629 says to remind you that you can also use a white purse now that spring is here, :neener: just remember to put it away after labor day, and don't forget that the bag should always match or compliment the shoes you're wearing

Not that there's anything wrong with it, but why do you carry all that stuff around in urban Atlanta? I mean, couldn't you just leave it in your car, or walk into a drug store and buy it?

Me, CCW weapon (of course), Samsung Blade ultrathin Bluetooth camera phone, wallet, keys, and if cargo pants, a 1/2 inch thin ViewSonic color PDA with all that data and books and stuff on it, with a tiny GPS thing poking out its top slot. (and all the GBA and most of the SNES games ever made, too) :D

I can't carry too much junk.

haha, oh boy, I should have known I'd get tore up! LOL :) Its ok, it is almost a perfect act of redundancy. Its funny though, everyone around me thinks I'm totally nuts until they need something. And yes, I can just go buy it, but its mostly for special events, vacations, and what not. I used to carry it more religiously, but since I added the additional pockets and it got heavier, I've slowed down how often I carry the darn thing.

Tegemu, I carry it in the Maxpedition Fatboy Jumbo (first pic, larger bag on right)

And yes, I have a tampon in it, along with two different versions of midol. Which should say: I'm not single. How does anyone put up with me??? No clue! :D

Like I said, I am always in search of new things I can do. The latest ploy is I bought a vacuum sealer so I can seal items in there and compress them. That way, I can fit more. I also have been considering moving from the Fatboy Jumbo to one of maxpedition's back pack type packs. I dunno.

Maybe since while I'm on duty I have this huge & heavy duty belt on, I'm used to carrying a bunch of stuff? hah

One of these days I will start to consolidate and cut down though. Right now, I have items in there for others also, and if I start to cut that down a bit, I will save a lot of room and weight.

So, what am I missing?

Thanks for the all the comments, advice, etc.

Oh, missed the tampon, I thought they'd be listed under 'female'. I'd throw a few extras in there, just in case you've got more than one GSW to worry about. Ones without applicators are also more compact.

Another thought: sanitary pads also hold about one unit of blood, so they're good for soaking up blood and also knowing how much they've lost.

I forgot to mention in my first post, I have a Fatboy Jumbo on order that should be arriving tomorrow, but I was just going to put my 1911, a few mags and some AR15 mags in it, with a Rolly-Polly dump pouch on the front. Maybe I'll add some Tylenol in case someone offers to let me shoot their .678UberMagnum the next time I'm at the range after seeing this thread.

Kharn

I think my wife has the same items in her little clutch bag???

With a bug out bag like that, I would have you'd be better of bugging 'in' than 'out':)

You earned a three-fingered Boy Scout salute. :) Since no good deed goes unpunished, I'm going to suggest more items.

Window breaker/Self sprung machinists center punch to go with the rescue hook.

Is your "strider TI-Spanner" like the Atwood Prybaby? Maybe a bigger prybar?

A couple hundred feet of paracord. (be creative, wrap something, or look up one of the neat quick-repease ways of weaving it.

Travel-size roll of duct tape.

Green laser pointer (signaling/directing)

GPS unit if your phone/PDA is not so equipped.

Mini-filter to stretch the water purification tablets.

Come on, you're not even close to being done. You obviously need more stuff… :D

Micro screwdriver kit.

EMT shears.

Wire pull-saw.

Magnifying glass.

Crazy/Super Glue.

(I'm on CandlePowerForums, so I'm sympathetic…)

Damn, thats a lot of stuff. I just looked through my "man purse", which is just my motorcycle tank bag, but it goes everywhere with me and I carry it from a shoulder strap off the bike, so yeah, its a purse. Ive got my wallet, a notebook, a pen, some bungee cords, a tire guage, my cell phone, wallet, bersa .380 (with one magazine), a pair of old shopping lists, some ATM reciepts, old driving directions, some bandaids, a pack of gum that I forgot about (chewing a piece now), a bottle of tylenol, a pocketknife and a whole pile of loose change, and my checkbook.

Upon reflection the internal contents of my UBERMANLY man purse actually resembles the interior of just about any ladies purse. I need to get some cooler stuff in there. I think I will copy you and increase the quantity of knives and ammunition, maybe throw in the manliest of manly snack foods, some slim jims.

I love guys that carry stuff like that, so when the SHTF, and all I've got is a gun and 3000 rounds of ammo, I know where to go to get the rest of the stuff I need.

Have you got 3 years of food stockpiled at home too?

Optical Serenity, I'm sitting here with my mouth hanging open.

You carry all of this with you every day? Have you added up the cost of everything? I'm curious what you have invested here. Also how much does it all weigh? You show two bags. Does this all fit into them?

I'm way beyond impressed... you're the man to have around when a need arises.

Marketing Opportunity

Dude,

When you end up marketing this survial pack you should hook me up. I'm way impressed. And also, you should give me an estimate on the amount of money you've put into this just so I know how much to save up when it comes to my local Walmart.

Congrats,

Dogmatix

I'll post pics, later. I'm a bit lighter, but not much

So tell me what you think. This is my "man purse." Its a daily carry, somewhat of a bug out bag, but its mostly a shoulder carried pack.

I've got a layered approach -- I don't have everything all the time. MadMike has seen some of this stuff in person. Also, if I'm anticipating a Klingon Pecker-Swinging Contest, I'll carry more in the way of hardware. This is also urban, so I'll add stuff for the woods.

Pockets / clothing:
CRKT folder knife, PDA, pens/pencils, comb, Day-timer, #2 wallet aka card-case. Dogtags around neck with LED light, multifunction watch, FEG PA63 in IWB holster if on the right side of the Potomac. Keychain on carabiner, including gun-locker keys, a dogtag, and P38 (Shelby, not Walther).

Always on, any time I'm dressed: Fanny pack, aka "the Bat-Belt" by my coworkers. Leather gun-pack, with:

Wallet and money
First-aid kit and med pack
Bandaids, gauze pads, tape, triple-ABX ointment, hand sanitizer, exam gloves, antiseptic wipes, thermometers, thermo covers, tampon or 2, condom or 2.
Acetaminophen, Loperamide, Benadryl, Dramamine, couple of multi-symptom cold pills.
Holster
North American Arms Black Widow in .17 HMR
Pock-its pack
Maglite, Super Leatherman, Hemostats, EMT shears, short bladed folder / LED light / whistle combo
Fannypack Belt
CPR mask and gloves, pager, cellphone, Altoids, water-bottle carrier, lightweight poncho, pepper spray (I work in DC, can't carry real there), camera.

Outback vest
Sewing kit, LED lights, boot laces, boot garters (aka blousing rubbers), Kleenex, shades, ear plugs, bundling tape (think fine-grained 2-sided velcro), emergency blanket

If I'm going to be more than a hop-skip-jump away from the car, add a backpack with:
MREs, water, change of clothes, heavy poncho, toiletries, (including TP) mess kit and pocket stove, room for lunch-cooler or other sundries as planned for.

In the car:
-Tent, sleeping bag, air mattress, blankets,
-Case of MREs, 7 gallons water, propane stove and gas, cook kit, coffee pot and fixins, camping and medieval-event first aid kits
-Automotive toolbox, plus axe, saw, shovel, short sledge, hydraulic jack, gas can (on tire rack outside, locked, full)
-Rope, 'biners, zipties, cord, duct tape, trash bags, electrical tape, tarp clips, batteries for sundry equipment
-Map bag with local maps and US atlas, emergency kit with flashlights, flares, e-blankets, quick-grab first aid kit

And I just got reminded that I need to throw the car kit's BP cuff back in there - it wound up in another tub o gear inside the house 3 weeks ago :(

Optical Serenity, how do you like your Fatboy Jumbo? I like smaller manpurses, if that gets too heavy I rather carry a small backpack.
