My mind tells me GLOCK, my heart says CZ

So how do you pick what to carry?

Tried a G19C a few months ago

I've never seen the same since. It spoiled me for ALL other guns! I fired slow; I fired fast; I fired every-way but with my eyes closed, and I just could miss the targets. I put 16 rounds out at 7 yards, as-fast-as I could pull the trigger. Regarding the point of impact, all shots stayed with-in 1 to 1.5 inches vertical and 2 to 3 inches left/right of my point of aim. And I mean, I fired as-fast-as I could!!! I was shocked, awed and flabbergasted! It is one of the finest pistols I have ever fired in my life! Now, I have never fired the CZ. I can only ay what i experienced with the G19C.

No question about it....the Glock 19. I also have a Glock 26. It's a little easier to conceal and just a fun to shoot.

My heart won...

Range report and review this weekend. :)

Good choice. I don't have a Glock, but I love my CZ P01 - accurate and less felt recoil than my CZ 75B. I shoot S&B ammo and use a 22-lb Wolffe Gunspring recoil spring.

Either a G19 or P-01 will serve you well.

2K rounds of cheap WWB 9mm with no cleaning or lube in my P01 and it's still going strong with no problems.

Don't forget to look into the Kadet 22LR kit for it. Best $230 ever spent. 2200 rounds of Remington Golden Bullet with 1 FTE so far.

Then I come to that plastic front sight (new GLOCKs still have those, right?). My gut recoils at the thought - good Lord, the finish on my steel CZ-75 sight is worn from daily carry - how would a plastic sight fare? And why a plastic sight on a gun that costs about $450 new?

I admit its the only flaw with Glocks, but you can always get after market sites. Most of My Glock have night sites anyway.

When it comes to carry, don't mess around around. Though I love CZs and am a big believer in "guns with soul" and all that nonsense, the choice of a carry gun should be purely rational. Find the one that works best for you, regardless of looks, brand preference, etc. You take on a big responsibility by carrying a gun. God forbid, if you ever need to draw down on someone, make sure that you are armed with a gun that offers the fewest barriers toward making the right decision.

Take the gun your heart desires to the range.

+1 Well said.

I am concerned with safety features for carry, but for some reason I just had wood for the Glock 27. Just something about it so...evil looking.

So I had to vote "other"

The only brand of autos I've ever owned that went bang every time have been Glocks and CZs so I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

There are many brands and models of handguns that meet all reasonable and rational carry criteria. There is plenty of room for personal taste and whatever else to come into play. Get what you want from within that standard. I mean would anyone say that any Beretta, Sig, Glock, CZ, HK, S&W is rationally (objectively) a bad choice compared to another? Pick from any of those (and more) that suit you best. Test it enough to know that your specimen is reliable and rock on.

Owned the P-01 and still have the G19. For a CZ the P-01 did nothing for me,
as it wasn't as accurate as my customized PreBs or 97B. My RAMI is much smaller and I shoot it with about the same accuracy as the Compact P-01.

Featuring the decocker that I think a good idea for a duty gun to be used by entry level personnel. I'm no longer a cop, and like cocked and locked the best.

Others around me really liked the decocker and how well the grip fit.

Both guns are excellent and I hope you can buy both.

CZ

I would go with the CZ, but I see you've made your choice. I had a G19 and still own a CZ75 P01, in fact I liked it so much I got a CZ75BD, CZ75B and the nifty little Kadet adapter for cheap practice. The adapter fits all three pistols and is very accurate, so far over 2K .22 lr rounds through it.

For me the CZ have been great values, they also make me look good at the club shoots, because they are so accurate.

regards,

Luis Leon

Congrat on a fine choice you made. Glock is a relaible pistol and so as CZ. The CZ is more accurate in my experience and has better fit. If I know then what I know now my first pistol would be a CZ p01 too, instead of the XD9 sub. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with my XD. It just that CZ has more value to me. Hope you enough yours.

People talk about glocks like no other handgun is reliable.

Well, maybe my Kahr K9 and Sig P226, while both being 100% reliable with many different types of ammo, have been thinking about jamming?:scrutiny: Can you prove they aren't? A Glock would never even entertain such a notion.:neener: ;)

I see you made your choice already. Looks like a nice weapon, and CZs are quite solid. However, I'd have chosen the glock, but probably because I'm interested purely in a combat weapon, not something with "soul." But you may have had different reasons. Enjoy your CZ. No reason not to like it.

So boomstik45, what do you consider a combat pistol? why is the glock a combat pistol and the CZ is not?

Congrats on the gun.

I have owned both a CZ and G19.

Still have the G19, but both are OUTSTANDING weapons. Anyone who says different is just wrong.

The best part of chosing between a CZ and a Glock is you can't be wrong!
