Where ever the good LORD puts me.
This is my second S&W 3rd gen in four months so I guess I've got the bug. :D

It's a 4567, it is all steel and has a 4.25" barrel, night sights and uses a 8rd single stack magazine. (Think of it as a DA/SA combat commander.)

The factory reset on the 3rd gens are amazing but this one seems just as good as the reset on my PC tuned 3rd gen.

And here's the part we really like...

I like it. I also have several 3rd gen pistols and for the money they are excellent guns. My 5906 is an all-steel gun and shoots better than my SIG P228. Have fun with it and enjoy.

very nice
i love shooting my 410 (valueline .40)
but dont want to wear it out as its my fave carry gun
but i do get 75 or 100 rounds a week thru it
i load them light as the factory loads i shot thru it really took a toll on the barrel bed of the aluminum frame
the next one will be a steel beauty

S&W 3rd generation....

I really like the S&W third generation models but I'm not thrilled with all the features.
I'm not a fan of the slide mounted/Walther type safety. Im also not thrilled with the S&W magazine release. I'm left handed & like to use my left thumb to drop mags quickly. Third gen models can't convert the magazine releases.

The S&W magazine safety isn't good either but it's not a major problem.

Cool gun. Post a range report soon.

A friend of mine would say that it isn't a proper .45 unless it's a 1911. Since I don't own a 1911, I just ignore him.

I put 30rds through it, 14rds using both hands, 8rds using right hand only and 8rds left hand only at 7 yards.

It is a very soft shooter. I'm not going to win any bullseye completions, but for the first 30rds down range three being in DA I'm impressed. :D

Here's the results...

One of my first guns was a 4506, but it was a first gen. Yet another to add to the long list of what I shouldn't have gotten rid of

I like your 4567! I recently picked up a 4566 TSW. It was live at first sight. Your targets look like mine btw :)

This is what the Standard Catalog of S&W 3rd Ed. says, "Caliber: .45 ACP. Blue carbon steel slide with stainless steel frame, black post with tritium insert front sight, Novak Lo-Mount with two tritium dot rear sight, .260" bobbed hammer, .304" smooth trigger, deep blue Xenoy one-piece wraparound grip on a straight backstrap, 4-1/4" barrel, 8 round magazine, weight 39.4 oz. Limited production of 1,236 in 1991."

That's a keeper for sure. I have many 3rd gen S%W pistols, and the 4566 is my favorite. That 4567 is very nice indeed. I have carried one version of it or another for a long time.

Sweet.
I only have 3 Smith autos: a 5946

I really want a 3904, a 3906, and a 45-anything.

That 945 had a Briley spherical bushing on it and the accuracy was & is amazing, it is a legitimate Bullseye Hardball gun out of the box.

Gotta love Smith's 3rd Gen 10XX- and 45XX-series autoloaders.

Unique look, flawless function, and being all-steel tanks, they're able to handle the energy of full-throttle, big-bore loads.

What's not to like?

In a moment of temporary insanity

I sold my 4516-1. I have not been able to find one that I could afford or wanted since. In an effort to redeem myself, I have been buying 3rd gen guns for the last year when I find them in good condition. These are what I have so far.

Pictures 1&5 are of my 645. Not a 3rd gen gun but the predecessor to the 4506 and a great gun in its own right.
Pics 2&6 are of my 4586 the double action only version of the 4506.
Pics 3&7 are of my 6904 9mm. I picked this one up cause it was like new for only $325. It is the exact same size as the 3913 except that it is a double stack that holds 12 plus one.
Last but not least are pics 4&8 of my 3913. I recently found this at my favorite LGS and at $400, I couldn't pass it up. The same dealer has a 4566 marked Davis custom that I am trying not to buy.

agtman, very nice 45! :) I'm hoping to ad a 1006 someday.

CZ223, you have the beginnings of a very nice collection there! :)

That was a very good deal on that 6904. I was looking for a 3913 when I saw the 4567 and it was love at first sight. :D

That Davis tuned 4566 would be hard resist you must have some will power.

Can't resist showing off my CS45, the Shortest all-metal .45 that S&W ever made :)

Holster is a Desantis Gunhide R2, decent fit, but not perfect...

Case is a camo lockbox for range transport, from Flying J/Pilot stores.
Got it on fuel points, normally $30, it was Free :)
