I recently received my Colt 1991A1 back from John Harrison after an extensive customization. John went through the gun top to bottom, inside and out, replacing nearly every component with premium grade parts. The Colt barrel (recrowned to match the EGW angled barrel bushing) remains. Grips are by Larry Davidson... these are Texas Horned Lizard. The entire gun was bead blasted and then the flats on the slide were brush polished. Needless to say, John did an extremely detailed, thorough, and magnificent job in every respect. It was a great pleasure working with such a nice and thoroughly professional pistolsmith. John made every effort to make sure the pistol was to my liking... hope you enjoy the pics.

Absolutely gorgeous. Just out of curiosity what kind of camera did you use to take the shots.

Haven't shot it yet, but the test target that John created shows that it is very accurate indeed.

The camera was a Canon 10D with 28-135 zoom lens. Not the best lens for detailed work (zoom lenses are not as sharp as prime lenses) but adequate. Actually nearly any of todays name brand, higher resolution cameras can do comparable images. The more significant aspect of the photographs is the detail work in the posing and lighting.

Crrrrrrrrrpppp! I gottttttttttt ddddddrOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOollllllll on @my kEybbbbbbbbbbbOardddddddd aaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnddddddddddd SSSSSSSShhhhhhhhhhhhhorrrrrrrrrrttted it Ouuuuuuuuuuuut!!!!!!!!

With the price of the gun and the work I could have bought a nice Ed Brown Class A, but then I wouldn't have had as nice a gun as this one! ;)

Didn't take long at all...in fact I was the one who dragged it out with procrastinating on some of the design decisions. I don't think John's wait list is bad... but only he knows that answer.

What kind of rear sight? The rear is not a "night Sight" correct? Did you order it like that? That is the way my carry gun is.

Those grips are fantastic!! Are they really horny toads? I thought that is a protected species.

Although, I think you should open up that ejection port a bit. :neener:

I appreciate good accuracy, but I'm not an accuracy freak... especially with defense guns like this one. But this Colt custom prints a tight group right around the bull at 50 feet and that's just fine for me!

I do have a couple of Colt Special Combat Government models which are my true "target" guns... these are very fine shooters!
