A couple of weeks ago I picked up a .44 Magnum Ruger Redhawk revolver. I’ve been wanting one of these for a few years, but I’ve been patient about it. This one was offered to me a few weeks ago as part of a trade, and, and, even though I was looking for one with a shorter barrel, the whole deal was so good that I couldn’t say no.

I’m the third owner of this gun, but the first one to ever fire it, which is pretty neat. As it turns out, it is a sweet shooting revolver.

Here’s a video of my first range session with the Redhawk.

Ive had a 5.5 inch for a couple of years now. Not what most people would consider a carry gun, but I love it. With the proper hand loads it is surprisingly accurate and nice to shoot.

Excellent weapon. I have the 5.5 in blued 44. Born on date was 1989. You don't see the blued ones very often. And I think they are super cool looking. I really like the 5.5 size. I love to carry it when I am in the forest. It matches up nicely with my Marlin 1894.
Enjoy your "big bore" handgun. It will serve you well I am sure

One thing I did change was the wood grips for a set of nice Uncle Mikes rubber ones. Makes a better look and a whole lot better feel.

I like the wood as far as looks go, but of course we all have our opinions on that.

But I would imagine the rubber grips are indeed much more comfortable to shoot, especially with heavy full powered loads.

Congrats :)

I don't care much for the Super Redhawks, but I sure love me some standard Redhawk. Here's my 5.5". Hope yours gives you as much pleasure as mine has me......

Nice gun you have there. A little Hoppes and some BreakFree will take that black stuff right off. You really should clean your gun before taking a photo of it.
