Picked up a SAR-1(a WASR-10, modified to accept double stacks) a few months ago, and have just recently been able to get it to the range. Got a thousand rounds of Wolf ammo for it as well. I wish I had known that the range I frequent doesn't allow any Wolf ammo of any kind. I had to use some of their PMC, which did OK by the way.

I am not used to the AK sites, so it was hard for me to tell exactly how accurate the rifle was. The best I can say is that they were all on target and grouped relatively together. It was difficult for me to get a proper cheek weld with the hearing protection I had with me. Next time I will bring along some plugs instead. I put around 60 rounds through it with zero malfunctions.

When I got it, the rifle was new. The finish was acceptable and the color of the wood matched. The shoulder stock was loose. The sights and gas tube were straight so nothing there to complain about. I think that the trigger has a bit of slap to it. I'm debating whether to have a smith modify the existing trigger mechanism to stop the slap, or get a replacement trigger group.

So far I am happy with it and the price that I paid for it.

Just wanted to post this for others who might be thinking of getting an AK type rifle, adding to the knowledge base.

Is it a SAR-1 or a WASR?
The SAR is built from the ground up as a doublestack, the WASR is modified.
BTW, what is the difference between Wolf and any other ammo?

I wish my SAR1 had a loose shoulder stock, I've been trying for 3 weeks to remove it and install a Dragunov type. I wonder if I could burn it off?:uhoh:
