A Uberti 1862 Pocket Police with the 6-1/2" barrel and a 3-1/2" spare barrel.

I was originally looking at getting either a Uberti 1849 pocket or a Pietta Pocket Remington for small game, but the difficulty of procuring longer barrels turned me off. Then, as I was reading a book I bought as a Christmas gift for a friend of mine I discovered that Colt designs made it really, REALLY easy to change barrels. Thus, I abandoned my idea of the .31 revolver.

Besides, there's a lot more accessories out there for .36 caliber than for .31 caliber and .36 has greater accuracy and a bit more power.

The only question I have for you guys is how does the .36 compare to the .31 for small game like squirrels, rabbits, and the occasional (small) wild turkey?

The 31 caliber struggles to get to 100 ft/lbs of energy with its round ball where as the 36 caliber will routinely give you over 200 to 300 ft/lbs of energy with its round ball and more with its conical. Do numbers translate to killing power? That's been debated since the beginning of time, but its gives you a tangible comparison point anyway.

Either way you're going to love that little 'Pocket' framed police. Uberti, to their credit, makes the actual frame size of their 'Pocket' revolvers and they are sweet, to handle, to carry, to shoot!!!!

Good decision. :)

wow this looks nice so if I may ask where or if your ordering it mail order where would be a good place to order this from? I would like to put this in my to do list. :)

The only place I know of that sells it online for a good price is Dixie gun works. It's on sale now for $300, but I'm not getting this for a little while.

Midway usa is quite pricey.

My brother and my son both have one of these and they are exquisitely BEAUTIFUL! Kind of fiddly to cap the nipples though. At any rate, you won't be disappointed handling one unless you have very large hands.

I wish there was someone nearby who had the 1862 Pocket Police to test the feel and grips. I've heard about the grips being small, but I've heard the same about people who own the .31 calibers too, which I've already decided aren't for me.

The '51 Navy is a bit too large for what I think a .36 should or could be. Everyone says that the Navy's grips are great and I can't argue that.

The 1849 and the 1862 have the same frame and grip size. I have an Uberti Police and a 2nd Gen Colt Pocket Navy.
Where are you, I'd let you shoot one.
