My only revolver

Nice choice! Congratulations!

If you haven’t tried 9mm yet you should.
You may be surprised how much you like it.
Please heed my advice on this. Find a way to differentiate between the cylinders or one day you’ll hit the range with ammo for the wrong cylinder in your gun. 😆
Guess how I know…

I have a Ruger New Vaquero .45 Colt. I had a .45 ACP cylinder made for it by Ruger. The .45 ACP cylinder looks just like the .45 Colt cylinder.
I now keep the .45 ACP cylinder in a cloth bag and leave the .45 Colt cylinder in the gun. If I want to shoot .45 ACP I take the gun, the ammo and the bag with the ACP cylinder to the range. I swap cylinders as soon as I am done shooting.
The real kicker is my gun is more accurate with Mil-Spec .45 ACP that with my .45 Colt hand loads. Haha

I've got the same gun (never been fired) Do you lose much accuracy with the 9mm cylinder?

Yes I think shooting with the 9mm cylinder is less accurate, and it's a real damp squid compared to 357 mag. 357 is a very nice round in this revolver, it's just perfect. It's better than 38 special, and far better than 9mm.

I hate using 9mm in this revolver.🤮

Anybody know if you can pop a 9mm cylinder in any .357 Blackhawk, or does it have to be a convertible model or fitted or something?
You might get lucky, but then you might not. If the cylinder doesn’t line up you could be hurt or gawd forbid, you might hurt the revolver…I think I have that backwards. 🤪 😁

Seriously, I would have a gunsmith or a knowledgeable person look at it before firing it with a cylinder that wasn’t made for it.

Nice revolver.

I have two Ruger convertibles, a 22LR/22WMR Single Six and a 357 Mag/9x19 Blackhawk.

I like the revolvers but rarely use the alternate cylinders.

But, I recently got a couple S&W Model 48 revolvers (6” and 8-3/8” barrels) chambered in 22 WMR so I have a supply of the ammunition on hand.

Back when I was much younger, I used to see those in the Shooter's Bible and such and think they were the ultimate gun for someone who traveled all over the world. 357, 38, 9mm...you should be able to find ammo most anywhere. Of course I had no idea that in most places in the world having a handgun would get you a long stay in the local hoosegow. Still the theory is good.

I saw a similar one at my LGS last week, but it was 45acp/45 Colt.

There’s a new Ruger Blackhawk .357 / 9mm for sale at my LGS. I didn’t look at the price. I walked away. I recently bought a pistol, extra mags, holster and such. Murphy’s a pain in the tuckus sometimes.

I have that combination and it’s about as close to perfect as I’ve ever had. I’ve had probably at least a dozen Blackhawks and the only one I have left is the 6-1/2” .357/9mm blued new model that my Father in Law gave me.

Beautiful! I had a 1970s vintage Blackhawk in 357 magnum when I was in high school way long time ago. I sold it to a friend and regreted it ever since. But I was young and dumb... needed the money for girls and fast cars. My first car was a 1972 Mustang Mach-I that got about 12 miles per gallon, but it was the fastest car in town. I was torn between too many interests. Hate when that happens. Wish I still had that Blackhawk, but on the other hand my Mustang is forever part of my hometown lore and legend that locals still talk about to this day.

Great choice. I have one and shoot it a lot. The 9mm cylinder has gotten a lot of use in recent years, due to ammo prices. I've never had trouble with accuracy in 9mm. Might vary from gun to gun.

I bought the 9mm cylinder off of ebay and it fits and works fine. My understanding is that this isn't always the case.

A .357 Blackhawk is a great choice if this is the only revolver you have at this point in time!

I have an older 3 screw model and it is one seriously solid, well built, single action .357!
