That sounds like an ideal two gun setup with two great calibers, with that combo you are covered for any game that walks in NA and for that matter the vast majority of the African Plains game.
Very nice. I have always wanted a 700 Mountain Rifle, that very may be my next rifle. Decisions....decisions.

My mountain rifle is the older model without the detachable magazine.
I got a very fair price on it used. At the time I was looking for either a 7-08 or .280 Rem. The .280 just happened to show up first and I used that gun to kill my first deer @ 230 yds in Tioga Co, PA a few years back.
If I had to start all over I would go with a 700 Mtn LSS in 7-08 and never look back. It has a 22" barrel and weighs in @ 6.5lbs.
I would mount a Leupold VXIII 2.5-8X36 on it with QD rings, select a back-up scope and be ready to roll.
The same rifle is available in .270 & .30-06 but a 1/8 lb heavier due to the longer action. I wish they made it in .280 Rem but they do not.
I have had the hankering to trade into one of these lately and this post just might push me over the edge.
THANKS!
