...and in excellent condition.. Inspected and lubed it, remounted the scope rail with threadlocker, installed my NightForce 12-42X56 scope and a bipod, removed the muzzle brake, and here it is. I have a Zeiss V6 5-30X50 scope coming; sometimes the NightForce at its shortest is a bit too long.

Using an inexpensive M-Lok bipod.

Have loaded a bunch of break-in and pressure-testing ammo and will be shooting tomorrow at our east-Valley range (Usery Pass).

That is an awesome looking rifle Jeff. Please follow up with your review after you get it out to the range. I've been wanting a precision rifle for a while. It's hard to believe the quality and accuracy you can get nowadays for a minimal layout.

I was at the range recently shooting next to two guys with this type rifle platform - one was a Ruger (6.5 CM) and one was a Bergara (.308). They were shooting 200 yards and retrieved their targets after about 30 to 40 shots each. I was impressed by the looks of both models - they “looked” accurate. But their targets said something very different - both targets looked like a shotgun blast. It dawned on me that an accurate rifle is the lesser half of the total package, these two were using what appeared to be great equipment to chase very mediocre marksmanship. Anyway, their presence prompted me to look at this kind of shooting platform now - to include the Savage.

Congrats. That's a sweet looking rig. Bet that it's very accurate.... If you do your part. Like Steve S. mentioned; marksmanship also plays into the accuracy equation. I've yet to see a 6mm Creedmoor chambered rifle in person and I bet there aren't many around here; judging by a local sporting goods store that still had a few boxes of 6mm Creedmoor ammo on the shelf and very little else.

I have the same rifle also in 6mm Creedmoor and it's a tack driver. However, the muzzle brake is totally ineffective in reducing recoil. Is that the reason you removed your muzzle brake? I'm looking at removing it or replacing it with one made specifically for 6mm.

That's a good looking rifle. I've been real intrigued by the 6mm CM.

I haven't been out to Usery Pass yet, I'll make it one of these days. I do my shooting a little further south.

I sighted in the same rifle chambered in .308 for a friend.
Negligible recoil and a nice shooter but not my style.
FWIW he was getting ~3/4" groups at 200 yds. and he's not exactly an experienced marksman.

There are a host of guns that tout sub MOA abilities. I'd take the Bergara but both should have rendered "one ragged hole"! 30-40 rds in one sitting? Perhaps laddering loads...?

I was all set to buy that very same rifle, found the local bass pro even had it on the shelf. Then savage does the impluse thing, and I am thinking I have always wanted a straight pull, so now that is what I am going to buy. Why, just different, on the same chassis, and I doubt it will be worth the extra coin, but darn it is just cool. So I will wait for the impulse and go with that.

Have to wait a bit, just bought a Ferris zero turn so the play money pile is gone.....going to have to wait a bit, so decided to play military sniper in the games this summer with a PSL, I think I will get my clock cleaned but I think I will have some fun.
