Took the plunge, passed the background checks, something as a foreign national is no mean feat let me tell you and am now in the sidearm zone

The pistol in question is the fabled CZ -75, this one is a P-07 designating it as a polymer variant. It's in 9mm the military caliber with a long pedigree of use having that sweet spot of balance between power and recoil.

With all the ramble and razmataz about Glocks this and 1911s that it's about time to show you the real deal, all the way from Europe where since 1997 CZ has been officially exporting their wares.

Imo the CZ is the match and possibly the superior choice over the Glock through it's sophistication, robust yet refined manufacturing techniques and of course being one of the original Wonder Nines.

Here's the video review, I ramble and it's kinda long (almost Nutnfancy duration?) but there's shooting links to be added and skip-boxes for those wanting it short etc.

Here's the pistol being put through it's paces:

I voted for the CZ 75 for the win. I love mine and also own a Rem R1 Enhanced and like that one too. Do not like Glocks but do like H&K. Here is my new glossy one. As for what is best for you? You should handle them and see what feels good. Shoot them if you can. There are a lot of good guns. But CZs are great guns.

Thanks man, without sounding rude or prying, what's it like shooting a CZ with only 9 fingers...?

God Bless CZ...

I'm really lusting after a CZ 75 SA, but I probably can't wait that long so I'll probably end up with the 07 as a mate to my 09.

Tearing them down and cleaning them is a cinch too!

Normally I just take apart the slide, barrel and spring for field-cleaning...

BUT for stripping down the firing pin assembly and bolt it's trickier, tools and clamps may be required?

The Omega Trigger System is nice and improved but this in itself is harder to tear down in the field, or so I've heard anyways.

That whole "tear down in the field" who really does that? Anyone? I never even carry my punches to the range. And I know how hard it is to find springs on a nice smooth floor, so I'd expect it to be near impossible in gravel, dirt or grass.

No biggie! Left thumb is missing and I am right handed. Little trickier when racing motorcycles or riding mountain bikes.

Never! I clean em at home.

I would love to buy a CZ, sans rail, but I have no interest in another 9mm. My P239 is the only 9mm I have, and the only one I will ever have because I consider 9mm to be less effective than 10mm or 45acp.

I love the rail-less CZs though, all CZs are easily some of the most ergonomic pistols on the market.

The OP fails to mention the 'for what' part of the question. Sidearm for carry? Sidearm for taking to the range? Sidearm for police work? There are a lot of people that "own" a certain gun, nice guns too, but few that will admit what it is they ACTUALLY carry on a day-to-day basis. Yeah, it's great to have a full size 9mm to take to the range; but do you carry it, or do you carry a little pocket gun instead?

The CZ 75 P-07 Duty...

For clarity, the CZ75 one model in the CZ line-up. The CZ P-07 separate model in the CZ line-up.

You either have a CZ75 or CZ P-07, but not a CZ75 P-07.

CZ all the way

Its just a no brainer once you have shot them..taken them apart, etc. I now own the Big brother (CZ 75 SP01 Tactical) and the little brother (CZ RAMI BD)

CZ

My local gun store owner just bought for his own personal use the new CZP01. Compact, light weight and the most accurate compact he has ever shot. I respect him and his knowledge so there must be something to it.

When the p07 first came out they were titled cz75 p07 duty, only recently in 2014 cz went to the cz p07 title and dropped the 75 and duty

A 1911 guy here with a lot of love for the CZ - I have 3. Carry the Compact and75 B's cocked and locked.
Even Col. Cooper complimented them in a left handed sort of way for that feature.
Well made, reliable, accurate, steel and wood, and good looking to boot.
Dont mean to sound like a fanboy, and if you like something else, god bless, they just work for me. YMMV

I voted "CZ for the win", but my sidearm would be the P-09. I have a nice leg holster setup that works well with it.

I like the CZ-75. Don't love it. Think it's a mite overrated, but a good gun. The P-07 Duty, on the other hand, I love. I have been meaning to pick one up since the first time I held it. Remarkably comfortable in my hand.

Not sure how to vote, I have a 75B and I consider it one of the best 9mm service pistols. I really like the P-07 Duty with the Omega trigger, and I like the idea of a hammer fired polymer framed gun.

9mm is less effective that 45ACP. You do know that 9mm and 45ACP have about the same energy?

As far as 10mm, yes 10mm is a more powerful round than either 9mm or 45ACP.

Look for holsters for the Springfield Arms 4" XD. They fit the CZ P-07 perfectly. I also have a Miami Classic shoulder holster made for the SA XD that fits the P-07.

I have a CZ 75B, a Sig SP2022, Glocks G17L, 19, 26, and 34, a S&W M&P 9c and a pair of Shields, and a RIA 1911 Tactical in the 9mm stable. All are quality firearms and excellent performers, and all get shot regularly. None are for sale, nor do I think any will be - all will get passed down to family when I'm done.

When my wife starts flinching, I hand her the 75B. That long sight radius, heft, and great feel really calm her down and get her back on target.

For smaller, lighter, faster, and more accurate, my G26 just tears up everything else I've tried. For some reason, it just fits me best - YMMV. It's like asking what the best running shoe is, or best basketball shoe, or baseball bat, or putter. If there was one design that was best for everyone, they would soon only be one design!

We are indeed fortunate to live in a time and place where there are so many different excellent options. Even in California, at least until December 31.

I have a CZ P01 and I love the ergonomics of the gun, with the grip frame feeling very much like my favorite 9mm., the Browning Hi-Power.
