My Smith & Wesson 625 .45 ACP Revolver

Very nice. I just got one myself and I also love shooting it. I am about to start reloading for .45 acp, which is a new cartridge for me on my Dillon 550b. Currently I reload for 9mm, .38, and .357 magnum. All of those are with the small pistol primers. Should I reload the .45acp with large pistol primer or SPP? currently the empty brass I have for .45 is mixed between the 2 sizes.

My 625, probably one of the most fun and fastest reloading revolvers I own. Love beating the filthy bottom feeders with the noble round gun at the local USPSA matches. Moonclips rule!

Nice posts guys!

Your primer size choice should revolve around where you source your brass from. If you buy it, get range pickups or friends share their brass with you, large primer only, it's by far more common. If you only reload your own brass, then you can decide which size primer you want to buy
and only buy, shoot and reload that size. LPPs aren't any more expensive than SPPs so it doesn't matter cost-wise. Most .45 reloaders I know despise small primer brass because it messes up your workflow. I throw out SPP .45 ACP brass personally because I don't want to deal with it.
YMMV.

This Model 22 "Classic" had endless problems and probably won't ever be quite right, but still is the most accurate centerfire revolver I have owned.

It also is hard to imagine any revolver which could be reloaded more quickly. The .45 ACP is a perfect revolver cartridge.
If only S&W had stuck with the original "half moon" front sights those Classics would be about perfect.

Still, love those 4" (and shorter) N frames and that one is a looker, and no doubt a shooter. :)

I picked up this 625 a few years back, and its never disappointed. :)

Yes moon clips rule.

But I do have some half moon clips on hand as they are easier to carry than full moon clips.

I have 625 JM (625-8), a 25-2, and a Model 22-4 Classic (quick and dirty way to have a 1917).

I’m also a fan of 45 ACP 1911s but that is a subject for another thread.

5.0 grains 700-X under a 230 RN bullet is my 45ACP reload of choice. AA#5 or Unique are substitute powders.
