My Smith & Wesson 625 .45 ACP Revolver

Beautiful DR505! I see the trigger on your 5"? model is dirty like mine. Is there a way to remove those stains, are they just burned powder?

Those "stains" look like "case hardening" to me. The hammer has it too.

Yep...case hardening. The 3" 625-3 was made during the timeframe of flash-chrome triggers and hammers.

Wow Straw Hat, kind of blown away, beautiful collection!

Thank you! I kind of specialize in 45 ACP, S&W revolvers. So far none of the full lugged versions but there are a few more of the earlier Models I am seeking. Once I find them, I will start on the newer stuff.

I just came back from the range an hour ago. I ran 60 rounds through my 625. I know it was 60 rounds because I only have 10 moon clips. I need to buy more. Moon clips were new to me and this forum helped me understand them. One member recommended the RIMZ polymer moon clips and I am glad I made that choice. Easy to load and unload with my fingers.

My mistake. It's a S&W thread . . .

I got mine in 1992. Actually it belonged to my late father, but seeing that my name is the first letters I. The serial number it was promised to me as soon as it came home. I enjoy shooting it very much.

I had a performance center variant years ago but the ex wife sold it. Great revolver and I do love an old school pre lock Smith.

I like ACP revolvers

Great looking collection. My dad had two 1955 target model 25s. He got for a song at a pawn shop down the road. He gave one to my grandpa and kept one. He unfortunately sold or traded them when my grandpa returned the one, he was given, with pitting on the frame and cylinder. I don't think they spoke for almost a year after that.

SPP .45 ACP brass is the work of the devil; I'm always finding shiny .45 empties, with the small primers...they go in the brass can, along with spent primers. Grrrrrrr...... :cuss:
Preaching to the choir here, with .45 ACP wheelies; have a couple 625s, and wish I had a M25 back. The 325 is great to carry, but truly isn't much fun to shoot.
As regards the color of the action parts, the older stainless guns had flash chromed, forged parts. Then they went to bare, forged parts, and finally MIM parts. The last two look somewhat alike, until you remove them from the revolver. Has Smith reverted to flash chroming of these parts, from the looks of some of the guns?
Mine need some range time, and I'm in good shape for LPPs.
Forty five moon clips remain relatively cheap, compared to a variety of 9mm ones. I prefer the steel ones; use a tool to moon, and especially to de-moon. You'll spring clips forcing them with your fingers.
