Well I bought my Son a Marlin Model 60 today.

I was out (day off) running the streets.. when I thought I'd really look at a few 22's for my Son,6yrs.

I went to 6-8 Pawn Shops and 3 Gun Retail Stores and found this one
"Like New Condition" with out a mark on it for $120.00 out the Door the way you see it plus a Soft Gun Case.

I bought a Brick of 22LR and we are going to the Range tomorrow...I'll pick him up from school about a hour early.

So what do you think....?

Looks Great!! You might watch him closely the first few times he shoots to see if you need to move the scope back a little for him. Have fun (and be safe)!!!!

Starting him out right!! I also notice he has his finger out ot the trigger gaurd. Have fun and be safe. :)

That's a picture worth a million bucks.
Great to see it and glad to see the up and coming generation take to the shooting sports.
Thanks for bringing back memories of my daughter and her first firearm a cheap $90 SKS which she still has along with the video we shot the first time out.:)
Best regards

Thanks for replies...and support.

Just to let everyone know it's all tank mechanic's fault....
If he wouldn't of let my son shoot his 22 about 3 weeks ago I would of had a day without him asking me to get him one.... :banghead:

I'll be taking the video camera with us tomorrow so that I can record it for him later in life and to send to his Mom over in Afghanistan....

If I may be so bold, let me make a suggestion.

Remove the scope, and teach him first with iron sights. Not only will the rifle be lighter for the little guy, but he will thank you later. I am a firm believer that, unless there is some abnormality of the eye that requires a scope, all young shooters should first learn proper sight picture.

Just my .02, take it for what it is worth.

I agree but not just for young shooters. I think everyone should know how to shoot with irons. What if you really need your gun and the scope breaks? Shooting irons will really help you become a better shooter.

I also agree, let him grow into the scope. My first .22 at age 7 was a single shot Remington 521 that was a tack driver with open sights. My dad made me practice till I could hit walnuts offhand at 50ft before I could go squirrel hunting. To this day, even though my old eyes appreciate the scopes, I still prefer the feel of a rifle with open sights.
