A few things first. I reload for 9mm with a turret press and will churn out about 200 rounds of 124 grain FMJ at a time. I also reload for .357 magnum, .40, .45 acp, and 10mm.

My wife has taken all my high capacity 9mms but my Ruger SR9, and it's a fine gun but it fails to impress me like the Glock 34 has. There's a range near me that has one for rent and i've taken it out a few times. The guys that work there tell me they only clean it like once a month and it easily sees a few thousand rounds of use each month. They've had it since the beginning of 2015. It's a sweet shooter and I think the triggers goodness is related to the repeated use. But it balances incredibly well in both my hands and shooting it one handed is a breeze at twenty yards. And my wife hates it (she took my West German 228 and my 226 but not my 220 thankfully).

The Glock 17L is out there but it doesn't have the changeable grips and I havent' been able to test ride one. At 33 I'm now feeling the expense of shooting, and while I'm stronger at 33 then I was at 21 (been powerlifting since I was 15), I just don't enjoy the recoil of heavy calibers. I put more value in fast accurate double taps that go where I want them to go instead of loud single shots that take a fair amount of effort to get back on target in about a second. I'm only really keeping my Ruger Sp101 .357 with Remingtons latest 125 grain JHP in rotation because of the reliability I've often found in a revolver. But I don't really enjoy my GP 100 6" half lug anymore (thankfully the wife does). It's been a year since I last shot any .44 magnum or .454 Casull. My carry guns now are really just a Glock 23, XDs .45 ACP, Glock 42, Sp 101 .357 magnum and on rare occasion my Rossi 462. And really the XDs .45 ACP and Sp101 do the lion's share of carry duty.

I've got more than a few 1911s and more than a few different .357 magnum revolvers. But the Glock 34 just makes sense all around for me. I guess I'm getting old as a married man and expecting father and i just want a few guns to shoot and be great with as the years wear on. Being good with a lot of guns makes less sense than being great with a few. The Glock 34 is now a staple at a lot of shooting competitions as I understand it so I could possibly get into that if i want and I like that idea as well.

It's a high capacity 9mm, can run some of the hotter offerings out there, and comes from a company known for reliability and durability. No it doesn't feel as good as my 226 in my hands but it looks like it will be years and years before I run the risk of using up the Glock 34 (my Sigs are showing some age but they were made in the eighties like me so that was bound to happen, my wife likes to a hundred rounds through each then run fifty rounds of 158 grain FMJ through what was once my Ruger GP100 half lug 6" that I load to recipe to run 1200fps each time we go to the range once a month).

I haven't found any complaints about reliability or durability, it's one I want so by July I should have one (can't buy guns on a whim like I used to as I put $20 aside each week plus all my pocket change but for quarters [wife uses them sometimes to get to work]).

I like my Glock 34, it is incredibly reliable (as all Glock's are) but it is a wee bit long for IWB carry. It is fine if you are walking around all day, but can get a bit uncomfortable sitting or driving.
