This time they would not sell me any.. I have been buying Ammo at the Harrisburg, Pa. store For over a year and mostly at this time of the morning..(Coming home from the us of Palmyra Sportsman's Club indoor pistol range) A Co-manager said that it was the stores policy not to sell ammo after 10:00pm...(Resuming sales of ammo @ 8;00am (I Think)).Is this the policy in your area.. Has it ever happened to you??:what: Thanks..

I've purchased ammo from 2 or 3 different walmarts after midnight. I've done it in the Kansas City and Minneapolis metro areas.

I wasn't aware there are Walmart stores open past 10PM. The only limit our local Wally World has is a 6 box limit. Seems that during the peak of our ammo shortage certain customers would come in and buy every last box they had on the shelf. They apparently were turning around, marking it up and selling it to the unfortunate shooters that didn't make it to Walmart in time.

it may be for that particular store, but it isnt for the company. I bought ammo at midnight all the time when i worked there. no one working the counter so i had to take it to the regular cashier.

That's the local policy here, in Western New York, Indiana County PA, and as far as I've been in my not so worldly travels lately.

It seems to be a new company policy.

If I'm lucky enough to find ammo at walmart, It's always after midnight when I buy it. 2-3 am sometimes. I just have to find someone to open the cabinet.

Mine here doesn't sell after midnight.

The sporting goods section isn't manned after midnight so they don't want to deal with having to get an associate from the other side of the store to unlock the cabinet.

I doubt its because they are trying to keep ammo out of the hands of gangbangers.

I couldn't buy ammo after 9pm at the York store...company policy. I didn't think it was a big deal.

These are the larger stores with groceries also..6 box limit is the norm around here also..

I haven't had any of my 5 local Wally Worlds refuse to sell ammo after midnight, but I did run into a 2 box limit at one one night. I had a heaping buggy full of groceries, meats, frozen items, etc...it flew all over me, so I just gave the buggy to the store clerk and left.

The only thing that I had to do in the past is the WalMart Walk..Someone gets the keys and carries the ammo to the front were you pay...

Maybe an employee didn't want to be bothered with finding the keys to the cabinet and walking up to the front of the store to check out.

Of 3 of the different stores I've been to, one won't sell after 9pm, one has to be checked out up front, and one can check out at the sporting goods counter whenever.

They have to go get a manager with keys and bring it to the front. Then the manager has to ring it up on the front register themselves, as they have to enter their code for ammo sales. Basically, managers are too lazy to do this, so they said no ammo sales after the sporting goods guy goes home. It is against Walmart corporate policy however, and if you call corporate and report them, you may get something changed.

It's common practice for them here in eastern NY to not sell ammo after a certain hour. ( that is in stores that even do sell ammo , which is not all of them here )

I was told once by an employee though that even though they might call it policy, really it's simply because only managers and employees designated to work the separate sporting goods desk/register have those keys handy and the store doesn't bother having a person on at that station during the night shift. So, assuming that's true I would think that sales potential in the department would determine store policy.

Its common in my area. No ammo from 2200 till 0800.

Haven't tried at the new store in Weaverville, but have got ammo around 0700 (I leave work at 0630). The biggest problem is finding the guy that has they key to the ammo cage. Its kind of a hectic time, with most of the employees being tired after a night of restock, and not all of the cashiers are there so they have folks working multiple stations. BTDT.

At my local Wal Marts the ammo is out in the open so no associate is needed to get it. I haven't bought any in awhile but the I usually purchase late at night or early in the morning b/c I work midnights.

No such policy here. I have bought ammo at all hours. They walk the ammo up front which is annoying and also ironic since I have my chl and am carrying a loaded handgun anyway.

I had an employee tell me they couldn't sell me ammo with a gun on my hip.:banghead:

The 10pm thing has always been around here----good luck finding any help anyway---shotgun shells out on the shelf can be bought 24/7.

They are individual store policy and not Walmart customer policy. This has came up a couple of times, if you call district manager or call walmart corporate with this they will contact store and and correct them.

.. If they are changing their policy at a corporate level then there is not to much that I can do about it except write or call HQ and complain.. If it is a store policy (or a lazy manager) maybe if i complain to HQ they will tell them to knock it off.. Why be open 24 hrs and limit what you sell??

I sent my email to HQ @ 3:00 Am

No policy like that at my local store. I normally buy from midnight - 2 a.m.

Sometimes they walk me up to the front, and a few times they have let me pay for it at the sporting goods cabinet and just leave from there.
