Outstanding!
So there's actually another guy that hunts with his wife! Good for you.
It was actually my wife that got me started hunting & shooting.
After many hunts and many deer taken together I've found that there's nothing better than a spouse that is supportive of and even participates in your sport.:D:D:D

Congratulations! My wife has been my hunting/fishing buddy for a long time, until we both don't get out to do that much any more. Author has taken up residence in her hands and she don't like to get out in the cold. She still can shoot a 9 mm pretty good, I have to hustle to out shoot her.

I very much agree with you. I would rather be slowed down a little by her, than have her stay at home.

Congrats! My wife hates this time of year. Thankfully I got mine fairly early this year so I don't have to get the eye roll when I say I'm going to try my luck. I would love to have her come with but she has zero interest except in the byproduct.

Who taught her to shoot? She has the high shoulder shot down to perfection. Congrats to her.
I had to retrain her from the terrible flinch her dad helped her learn. Ithe deer had it's leg forward so it only clipped the scapula and grenaded the lungs. It made 3 jumps instead of planting it.

An absolutely clean kill. She should be proud! Just wondering...do you have any post kill rituals ?
For my first buck we did the whole European thing.

My wife's family is from Wisconsin from Norwegian heritage. We were only married a few years when I got my first buck and field dressed it like my father in law told me. Well, I tried to field dress it properly like he told me anyway. :D My wife heard the shot, got her dad and they came to where I killed the deer. I remember my wife saying "Well done husband". She took a swipe of the deer's heart and tapped my cheeks.

My father in law took a spruce branch and put in the deer's mouth. We stood quietly for about 30 seconds.
At the time this was all new to me. Wish I had pictures when I got my first buck.
Brings back memories.

We just take them to the house and bone them out.
