I recently purchased 4 boxes of PMC 6.5x55 Swedish at an auction, and one of the boxes didn't contain PMC 6.5x55. Headstamp says C.A. over 6.5x55. I did some Googling and couldn't come up with anything concrete what these cartridges are. I'm thinking maybe Century Arms but I'm not sure. Really just curious if this stuff is corrosive.

Thanks

Odd. First thing to do is to measure the case and bullet, determine actual caliber of bullet and get a description of case. That will give information to determine what caliber in actuality. One might see if the auction organizer has the rifles sold at the same auction; that might give an idea regarding what this ammunition might be.

Having bought this ammunition at an auction, one cannot claim this was misfiled into the wrong box. However, PMC might have an idea of "C. A." and for what it signifies. I did a brief internet search and didn't find anything promising. The International Cartridge Collector's - association? does not have this listed on their list of 'codes'. Perhaps consulting Cartridges of the World will supply a likely suspect. Loading manuals typically show dimensions of cases and that might be helpful, presuming the cartridge is reloadable.

Nothing of immediate solution springs to my mind.

The "6.5" numerals look a bit weird --- like they were overstamped or stamped separately from the "55". I agree with the advice above to measure bullet and case. You might even want to pull a bullet on a cartridge to find out how it's loaded.

Cool find.

Does the PMC box look like this older one at the bottom of this stack?

I got two boxes gratis when I bought my rifle from a shop that didn’t really want it to begin with. The first 20 of the PMC rounds shot very well in my new-to-me CZ 550.

I bought a big bag of once fired brass from a now-closed LGS up in Yucca Valley, Ca. a while back. In it were 100 of these, which I have never seen before:

I’ve loaded these with a 139 gr hp over a nice charge of Reloader 22. Man this thing shoots flat with these loads! ;)

Stay safe.

Sorry about the late reply fellas, I have been very busy with work the last few days and forgot to reply. Thanks for helping me solve the mystery. FYI bullet diameter just outside the case is .261, case dimensions are dead on. There was no 6.5x55 rifle at the auction, just a couple 12ga shotguns, so probably just some extra someone had. I have attached a picture of the PMC box as well, all 4 were the same.
