Most of you miss the point. New Jersey is a state that is extremeyl anti-gun. If he threatened another person in sch a manner, he committed a crime. If he was not allowed to buy guns, according to a federal restriction, and not just a state restriction, then he would have committed a crime aquiring them in another state, and the dealer would have committed a crime as well. If not, the man committed a crime by bringing those guns across the state border.
The statements by the authorities are not out of ignorance, they are purposely misleading in order to promote an anti-gun agenda. Since this is a crime investigation, a trace done by the BATFE will reveal the exact nature of the transactions, unless they were private purchases, but those would be difficult for someone to do who is visiting from several states away. So the NJ ploice KNOW the exact nature of those transactions, and are being vague in order to imply misconduct by gun dealers n other states.
And what about the other "terminology used? You can't trust police officials since way too many of them are now politicians instead of LE. Handgun capable of penetrating police armor? What does that mean? Is it a FN 5-7, or a CZ-52? I bought a 5-7 well before the hype hit, and didn't buy one to penetrate police vests, but because it was a a real flat shooting handgun. The amunition that was designed to penetrate body armor has never been offered for sale to the publc. The basis of the claim involved "tests" mad by the Brady Campaign, and even then the target amunition would only penetrate the lower rated body armor. However, why would anyone expect the Brady Campaign test to be either scientific or unbiased? The other term was "assault weapon." Never trust the antigun side to honestly use the term. It is clear that one side of the political spectrum is hoping to reinstate the Assault Weapons Ban, in spite of the Heller decision. So what were they? Were they full atuomatic M-16's or were they simple Ruger 10-22's? As you will discover, because of the existance of a version of the SKS that takes Ak magazines, all SKS's have been called Assault weapons. A new SKS hasn't been allowed to be sold in about 15 years, so ALL the rest of those rifles have been C&R firearms, and thus exempt anyway. Of course, "weapons of War' is self explanatory. The implication there is that there is NO justification whatsoever for civilians to be "allowed" to own those. "Hunting" is the only PC se for a gun, not even self defense.
