This is for fun but also benifits me greatly because I am working on a heavily gun-based story and would like to figure out what .22s I want in it. It also could help people looking to buy a new .22. SO....

what can you think of
doesnt matter semi or revolver
old or modern
compeletly obscure or very specialized

I have a specific look I am going for with the story but it is far too difficult to put into words so please let me know what you come up with
I already scoured out a bunch but want to find if I have missed any, which I most likely have

There isn't enough bandwidth to name all the .22's ever made over the last 156 years.

I won't even try.

rc

:D

Let me re-phrase my question then
here is what I have found
Is there any that I should be made aware of

....
Browning Buckmark
Ruger Mark series (+22/45)
Walther P22
Ruger SR22
Berettea u22 neos
Beretta 87fs target (and others in the series)
Sig Mosquito
S&W M&P22
Browning 1911 22
Taurus Pt22
S&W 22a
S&w 41
H&K hk4
Ruger lcr22
SW 617
Sw 317
Walther GSP
Mateba MT!
Baikal MCM
NAA revolvers
Phoeni Arms HP22
Mossberg Brownie

I managed to find some pretty obscure guns, any others...

There's only one .22LR semi-auto rifle worth mentioning: Winchester model 63, In pistol: Colt Woodsman

On the low-budget end, I've got an Iver Johnson TP-22 (Walther PPK lookalike), a Harrington & Richardson "Sidekick" revolver, a High Standard "Sentinel Deluxe" 9-shot revolver, and a Heritage "Rough Rider" 6-shot single-action .22LR/.22Magnum convertible revolver. And Advantage Arms .22 Conversion units for the Colt 1911, the Glock 22, and the Glock 30.

Looking at your list you are only showing pistols? That will narrow it down some for sure but it will still be in the thousands.

You really need to narrow it down. I personally have about a half-dozen Colt and S&W pistols that aren't on your list (Colt Woodsman, Ace, Diamondback, Officer's, Scout, S&W M63, K-22, M17, etc) not to mention all the other stuff like H&R 999 & 922, Uzi's, etc. As others have said, if you're going for a complete list by manufacturer and model it will literally be in the thousands. Good luck!

Pick up a copy of "Blue Book of Gun Values" and look through it, or go to Gun Broker and do a search for 22's.

best 22 lr rifle is the Marlin model 60 (older models before 1985)
best 22 lr revolver is Ruger Single Six (before 1990)
Best 22 lr in auto is Ruger Mark II

The reason they are the best? Because I own them. They work, and do everything I want and expect of them.

Give your "story" a time frame. The guns you named back in post #4 appear to be those available today. There are MANY MORE that did not stand the test of time and are only available used.

For example the core of my semi auto rimfire pistols are my S&W 422 and all stainless 2206. They are "brothers" in that they share the same machining but are made from different materials. But due to the cost of manufacturing they faded and gave way to subsequent S&W rimfire pistols like the Model 22A.

Even Ruger's own Mk series passes down the annals of time with the Mk I to III spanning many decades.

And let's not forget the classics like High Standard that do not have any modern representation. If your story is based in the 60's or 70's then a fully kitted out High Standard Supermatic would be a gun that made many of the day drool at the thought of ownership.

So you really need to "set the stage" for us to get the answer you want.

FEG (of Hungary) Mk-II AP22. Imported in 1998 only by Interarms, then later (also in the late 1990s) as the SEC22 by another importer.

It's essentially a rimfire version of FEG's PA-63. I have one I acquired about 8 months ago. Pretty nice, heavy, well-finished piece.

Here is a different kind of list of 22 handguns,,,

This is a list of handguns that are chambered in .22 rimfire and a centerfire cartridge.

It's just something that I like to collect,,,
A gun in some centerfire cartridge and the exact (or near exact) gun in .22 rimfire.

Thank you so much guys! You have found some that really fit the theme!
I am particularly interested in the S&W 422 and 2206. It was mentioned that they were the same pistol but different materials. which gun was what

and as for the timeframe, it does have a specifically modern theme but due to the nature of the story, very old and antique guns are common as well

The Smith & Wesson 422 was a blued version, steel slide, black aluminum frame. The 622 was a silver version, stainless slide, and silver aluminum frame. The 2206 was all stainless. The 2213 and 2214 were silver, and blue respectively, but were a shortened frame, and barrel model(compact) The 422-622 were available in 4 and 6" models, the 2213-2214 were 3" models. Im not sure what lengths the 2206 was available in, but not the 3 compact"

Ruger New Model Single Six
Ruger Old Model Single Six
Ruger LCR
Ruger SP101
Ruger Bearcat
Ruger Single Ten
Ruger Mark I
Ruger Mark II
Ruger Mark III
Ruger 22/45

Ruger SR22
Better add Ruger Standard.

I know you meant that with the MK I, but they are different.
